You have 20 minutes. Bettman has failed miserably in making the NHL a big money maker for the vast majority of NHL teams. I don't blame the people of the USA, but they just aren't interested in watch Network NHL games, therefore the NHL revenues haven't increased that much.

The lack of publicity of injuries/The delay in their announcement. Sam Bennett has been day to day for a full week, and there's no timetable for return. Very frustrating for fantasy hockey fans. Duclair was announced out of the lineup 15 minutes before the scheduled start time, giving a fantasy fan a 15 minute window to adjust.

The all star game always sucks. I get it's "For the fans at the arena" but it's a really dull watch. NBA all star game is 50x more entertaining.

The investigations regarding CTE in the sport and if there's correlation between CTE and suicide/addiction (Look up Steve Montador). NHL denies obvious correlation.

It's truly shocking how the cap creeps up by a million dollars each year, with COVID being the blame. Meanwhile NBA/NFL/MLB teams have no issues signing players to max contracts worth $200M+ over 5 damn years.

By far the biggest sin in my books is the complete void in international best on best play. Crosby and McDavid have not played together at all which is a sin against hockey itself.

20 years ago, the NBA and NHL had similar TV revenues. I remember Bettman "promising" (that's why he was hired) is he could unlock TV and other income sources . He has never done it. Actually the NHL owners are very socialistic.....rich teams have to subsidize the poorer teams, all because the majority of NHL owners want to keep their teams, and arenas. Over the years the Bettman (and he has built his owner empire in the NHL office) has made disastrous and costly decisions in giving franchises to owners who didn't have the money.
The majority of owners in the NHL have come their franchises awarded under Bettman's watch, so they have this loyalty to him. IMO, Bettman has been a very poor commissioner and should have been given the boot by the owners years ago.

Admitting I don't the know the economics of sports. I'll never understand those MLB salaries. So many teams have such poor attendance.

There's a severe lack of creativity/common sense. The NHL is going to AUSTRALIA to play a game, when there's been a handful of NHL players from Australia to ever play the game. Meanwhile, the markets that don't care about their NHL team get no attention/event to grow the sport.

Every time the league attempts to do some social movement (Pride nights), there's severe backlash. Whether you agree with the event or not, social media spun pride nights into a debacle if one or two players opted out. Meanwhile, the NFL doesn't even host a "pride night" and nobody seems to notice. Most teams in the NBA/MLB have one, and those that don't rarely receive backlash.

This is a huge one, no idea how I missed it. The game will struggle to grow because the NHL protects it's players from a 3 week global tournament that occurs once every 4 years.

A large portion of revenue in baseball comes from social media/streaming services. I do think they do a lesser-yet-similar socialistic structure. A hot dog at wrigley was $13 last year, i'm curious to see what it'll be when I go this year, but that's pretty standard for any sport.

What I don't understand, is how the NHL signs this massive TV deal with ESPN worth BILLIONS, yet if you listen to bettman, it's like the stars need to align to get a bump bigger than a million. It's a complete joke of a league. If the coyotes were in QC or any traditional hockey market in general, the league would explode.

Well he kept the Sabres in Buffalo despite many wanting the franchise to relocate after the owner's debacle, so I will be forever grateful for that at least. IMO his biggest drawbacks to his time as commish were the two lock-outs (obviously that sucks for all parties) and his failure to expand the game in Canada, where I think there are at least 2-3 markets that could support NHL teams and be very successful (Quebec, Hamilton, Halifax/Regina). For all I know he may have explored some of those options, but I doubt he did. Keeping franchises like Arizona around just doesn't make sense long-term to me, and I love the Coyotes team
