Description

- This assumes Bergeron and Krejci retire after (hopefully) winning the cup. I know its possible they come back for the centennial season though
- It's a retool, get in the young guys and see what you have (Lysell, Lohrei, Merkulov, Beecher, Lauko bigger role)
- A step back feels inevitable. this roster would allow them to be competitive and see where they are at at the trade deadline.
- Optimistic with the prices for Monahan, Swayman, and Frederic
- no I don't think Monahan is a 1C right now but I think he would fit well and could hopefully regain some of his Calgary form/ he has experience as a top C
- LA seems to have a lot of RHD and not a lot on the left side, that's why I think this makes sense.
-I'm not sure if Grans could step into the lineup immediately, I like the player but if he can't id feel comfortable with Achan moving into the top 6 and Zboril playing on the right side
- Debated trading for Turcotte instead of Grans but opted for Grans and to sign Monahan
- Lauko 2LW for the Czechmates 2.0 factor. If it doesn't work slide up Hall.

Hawks probably don't take on Reilly for a 5th.

Find a different team for Reilly. Hawks have zero need for a bottom of the roster LHD as they are bursting at the seams with LHD prospects needing a chance to play at the NHL level. To the Hawks, Reilly is nothing more than a 3 million cap hit with a 4 million actual salary cap dump. If you want to attach the commensurate compensation for a 3/4 million cap dump (a 2nd or maybe a 3rd plus something else), maybe the Hawks would have some interest. Assuming you don't, find a team that has more of a need for Reilly and trade him there.

Just buyout Reilly. He politely gave the Hawks the middle finger in 2015 as they were truly trying to court him to come to the Hawks because our D Dpeth was poor. He chose to go to the Wild with his dad. No shame in making that decision AT ALL. Just doesn't leave a good impression on the team you spurn.

Grzelcyk makes sense as a one-year stopgap at LhD, but we wouldn't pay Grans OR our 2023 second for him, let alone both. A rental is a rental.
