That trade for Gibson is abysmal on the Ottawa side. Pick up a younger UFA goalie for a lower Cap Hit and no assets out the door.

I think DeBrincat should be flipped for picks and a productive bottom 6 forward. That salary can go elsewhere (goalie/re-sign Sanderson)

Don't see anyone trading a 2nd for Forsberg. Last seasons number look far more like an anomaly than anything that could be expected performance wise. Not a bad goalie, and could be a solid back-up, but the value for those are typically a late 3rd round pick at best.

Hawks decline. Joseph is a useful player for a contending team. Hawks aren't one. Joseph is a cap dump from the Hawk's perspective

Without getting into the overall value in the Gibson trade because it's pointless to do so I will say that Anaheim isn't going to be overly interested in two defensemen in the 22-23 age range on league min salaries. We have plenty of guys like that already so if we add two more that just means we expose some of them to waivers and all of that stuff. The cheap salaries are counter productive to reaching the cap floor.

What Anaheim needs is 25-28 yr old established top-4 guys making 4-5M AAV. Zub or Chychrun type guys. But of course OTT isn't trading either of those players because why would they.
