Don't think the Hawks are going to want to give up the one thing they currently value the most and that is draft capital.

The deal doesn't jump out as a no brainer meaning its of little value to CHI. The benefit here is that VAN move on from the cap.

Garland is a handy NHL player and I would have no issue if we acquired him, though paying for him with draft capital may not be the go.

Perhaps we give you a player of little value back instead..... Maybe you can take a guy like Reese Johnson or Austin Wagner.

Again I don't think you would take it but thats where we are right now.

800,000 I made a mistake. You’re really thought I meant 8000000??

I agree with your comments. Yes, we may have to take a player back. I just think the Hawks almost have too many picks, it would be worth it to add a top 9 forward.

Agree with you

Based on the comments the GM has made this season, he wants the draft capital down the line to be able to use in moves that will benefit us getting better when the time arises.

At this point we are still a long way from that, so the feeling is that we will continue to stockpile until that time arises and we can weaponise the picks later as we can weaponise the cap space currently.

Currently we also have a fairly stacked forward line with the AHLers (with all due respect to them) throughout our lineup. Garland would immediately be a top 6 winger for us but is that taking opportunity away from guys we are building up value with such as Raddysh and Kurashev or worse, take away Ice time from Reichel (unlikely, as the kid is good and looks a mainstay)

A move could very well be beneficial for both sides but would have to be on mutually beneficial terms and the feeling for us has to be to keep the draft capital albeit only a 3rd.
