Yeah, that's exactly what we intend to do -- keep adding youth, filtering it into an already strong framework. That's why we'll be keeping the young Brandt Clarke and declining the mature Michael Matheson, without even taking into consideration how the serious difference in their cap hits would adversely affect the makeup of next season's squad.

Matheson is a mobile top 2 LD on a great deal on pace for 60 points on a bad mtl team. I know LA has a surplus of RD and MTL a surplus of LD. I was under the impression LA needed a top 2 LD to improve next year... and there are no other player on LA team i would trade Matheson for

The LD the Kings have been looking for is more of a shutdown capacity considering Durzi, Spence, Grans, Clarke are all offense first RDs.

Matheson is more offense-oriented nearly 30 year old player signed for another 3 seasons.

Clarke is a record scoring RD on pace to shatter OHL PPG metrics for a defenseman who will be on an ELC for the next few seasons.

plus you should not have a def corps made up of all youngsters no one does that...... Matheson is perfect where he is and his cap hit is very low for his production.
