Hart Question

Created by: Just_A_Guess
Team: 2022-23 Montreal Canadiens
Initial Creation Date: Apr. 10, 2023
Published: Apr. 10, 2023
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Before ya'll going rippin me apart, I'm posting this to figure out where the accepted value is for a trade of this framework to bring in Hart.

Breakdown of the proposal as it sits: Roster goalie as a stop-gap (Allen), partially developed G "prospect" and a top 5 protected 1st in '24.

Assume the FLA 1st is gone to WPG for PLD in a deal that none of us ever agree upon along with Dvorak and Kidney. (not a post arguing the PLD value, tired of that argument)

I don't see all the love for Hart. There are UFA goalies looking for a home, and the Habs don't have to give up futures.

Why would Philly trade Hart? He is not the problem.

I agree but if a team wants to overpay for a young goalie that looks like he’s improving they may just take the bait.

Why trade for Hart when you can draft Hrabal with 2nd pick this year

It would have to be an overpay for him to be dealt is my read.

Basically the type of trade that changes the trajectory of a rebuild.

Mid 1st
Good Prospect
2nd Round Pick
Short Term Cap Dump if needed"

Something along the lines of that. I could be wrong, but I just don't see any other way it makes sense for the Flyers

For an overpay anyone can be traded, but I can't see a reason for Philly to trade him.

If he was the problem there wouldn't be any interest in him. The only reason I could see would be to return assets and shuffle the deck so-to-speak.

I don't really think it's something that MTL should be chasing but I was just looking to establish the accepted trade value to see if there was an option available.

Draft Hrabal and when you actually need another Goalie go the UFA route. This way you don`t use the 1st rd pick. For some reason I don`t like Hart

No but PHI isnt going to change either in his timelines , are they ?
Personally i'd want Wolf>Hart , Swayman> Hart , heck even Vanacek> Hart.
Hart has no Heart.

Price was put in his position for years and succeeded as a individual even as his team failed.
Hart wont do that in PHI or MTL

Philly has had goalie problems for as long as I can remember, so I doubt they would be willing to trade a young kid with a lot of promise just to "shuffle the deck". IMO, it would take a big overpay to pry him out of Philly.

Price was one of the best goalies in the world in his prime, so I don't think it's a fair comparison. A team like Philly has been desperate for good goaltending, and Hart has provided that on a terrible team. No, he isn't Price, but that doesn't mean he isn't a solid goaltender who is still young.
