Description
Since I know everyone seems to want Kuzy gone, I'm going to try and create a roster that's better without him.

EDIT: In this scenario, Laviolette is not re-upped and Jeff Halpern is brought in to be the next head coach. Forsythe is also let go, but Scott Allen stays.

Bunting would be a good replacement for Mantha

The Schmaltz trade is interesting. I have been thinking that Washington would be a good fit for him and he would be a great playmaker for the last few Ovi years.

I don't see Brent Johnson being very appealing to AZ. Curious if Washington's 2023 1st round pick is in play? Schmaltz for the ~10OA pick would be something to consider.

I don't see the 2023 pick being in play, though I do think Washington would consider upgrading the prospect. I'm personally big on Johnson to surprise people and become a consistent 2 pairing guy, somewhat like what Jensen is now, but I can understand a lack of similar valuation by other teams around the league. I personally wouldn't mind considering moving someone like Suzdalev, I think his stock has gone up some after his awesome year in Regina.

Not a fan. Bunting is a, for lack of a better word, cheaper version of Wilson and the money+term he will demand makes him a no-go for me. I kept Mantha around here as I think he'll do much better under a new coach, and worst case scenario he rides the pine for McMichael, then walks in FA to create space for Wilson and Sandin extensions (since I expect Toffoli to be a pure rental unless Oshie or Backstrom retires)

Team looks pretty good, if healthy they should be able to win a round or two.
The only thing I'd really question is if Schmaltz could be had for that, seems to me he should go for a fair bit more if traded.

I would have thought so as well, though a couple yotes fans here seemed willing to do a trade around this much a while back. I also wonder if the disappointing return Chychrun got would influence how much Arizona could reasonably get from a team for Schmaltz.

WSH 2023 1st should not be in play for Schmaltz. Not worth it
