Description

I don’t expect much to Change over this offseason. Max of 2 defenseman, 2 forwards, and 1 goalie being brought in from outside the organization, but likely not all of that.
I think Okposo is going to retire and we replace him with a solid 4th liner. Girgs may be brought back but if not is probably also replaced outside the organization. Oloffson I think is gone.
I think we carry 13 forwards with Rousek/Kulich being first call ups.
I think we bring in another defenseman, I would prefer 2.
Goalie I don’t expect to add, I think it will be Levi backed up by the winner of UPL/Comrie, but they still could bring in someone like Hill for the backup role.

Hawks decline. Kozak is a meh prospect, and Olaffson is a pending UFA who has no shot to produce at the same level he has been playing for the Hawks. Replace Kozak w/ a real prospect and Hawks consider it. Keep Olaffson or include him - doesn't matter to Hawks.

Thats not going to get Murphy. Trade Rosen for him, we have no room in the NHL for him anyways

I like the way you think! We want Rosen. He fits with what the Hawks are looking for.

That's been a general consensus among a lot of Hawk fans that this would be equal value. Murphy's contact helps get the Hawks to the cap floor plus he's a solid top 4 defenseman and his veteran leadership helps the kids as they come up. At the same time his value as a trade chip could net a solid return. That's perhaps why his asking price starts with a 1st (or Rosen) and a 2nd. Kyle Davidson is dealing from a position of strength not needing to move Murphy so he can sit back and wait for his asking price to be met. I think this is the first time I can remember having confidence in our GM in my 30 years as a fan.

I could see a scenario where the Hawks do that trade for Buffalo's '24 1st but they may want Philly's '23 2nd since Buffalo should be a playoff team next year. Rosen looks every bit like he'll be a stud so I can see not wanting to part ways with him.
