Might still cost more. Top 5 goalie in the NHL.. not just for a season, last 3-4 years.

Schmid is pretty much nhl ready. So just sign a Raanta type to have a tandem with him

You would think they would want a better guarantee than a free agent plus Vanecek is young enough and good enough to be around for a few years possibly. It would be better off for New Jersey to sign a back up or use one of their young options. At least if Askarov takes a little longer or maybe doesn't work out they have a back up plan.

Not at that price. Not sure any goalie worth that much ever hits the market anyway. We are probably better off developing Schmid/Daws for when our window really arrives.

No for me, but I'd want the Devils to consider it if Vanecek was going back to the Preds and not Schmid.
