Description
With any luck, Martinez and DeAngelo can both be sold with retention at the TDL for additional draft capital.

Vancouver trade is a small cap dump by the Canucks for a little draft consideration and a "depth" 7th D man.

Vegas deal is based on rumors that McCrimmon is interested.

Tampa deal is just from a Tampa fan's post here, where he had Seeler going for a future 2nd, but I'm dialing that back a notch.

Columbus deal has change of scenery / kick in the pants written all over it for everyone involved, including the prospects who both need to take another full step forward. I've no idea who wins that trade, so I'm figuring it's at least fair. More cap challenge for Philly, so the pick goes that way to offset.

Cuelemans and the 34th overall pick in this year's draft for Kevin Hayes? Even at 44% off, I don't think that Columbus goes for that. They have Cole Sillinger, Kent Johnson, Boone Jenner and Jack Roslovic down the center (and some prospects), plus they might get one in the draft this June, so I don't think that Hayes interests the Blue Jackets all that much.

I think Zamula could also draw some interest from Jarmo. The 2nd might be a bit rich. But Hayes at 4mil and a prospect Jarmo may like could help, plus you get to dump the Gudbranson contract.

Tampa should accept that proposal. Seeler is exactly the type of LD they need for 3LD next year. I could see Tampa offering a little more if needed to seal the deal.

With $36 million in cap space for 14 open roster slots, and no significant RFAs likely to cost big new deals, what pressure is there for Columbus to dump Gudbranson's contract?

And my major point remains: Columbus really doesn't need Hayes.

Did you smoke crack before you made this Hayes trade? Lol. Ok kidding a bit but really that the Hayes trade is so far off. The Flyers would have to pay much more that just a prospect to dump Hayes. The Jackets have no interest in trading Ceulemans. Zero. Plus you want our second which is going to be 34th OA? Not happening.

Ok then, no deal it is. Surprising Ceulemans is untouchable when he hasn't impressed since his draft year, and you've got Jiricek and Boqvist already in the NHL. Looked more like an interesting trade chip prospect, given his average production at Wisconsin. He's not a bust at his age but he's also just not a sure thing, and neither is 34th OA.

Disagree calling Hayes a dump, especially not with the salary retention. Flyers are not in cap hell, and this isn't some Trevor Hoffman situation. Maybe you're right that Jarmo won't part with any picks or prospects though. In that case, the rumors must be nonsense, and Hayes just goes elsewhere for a similar type of return.

Hayes would be a dump considering his contract. Philly needs cap room and Hayes is clearly not worth 7 mil a season. As far as Cuelemans goes, Wisconsin is not a very good team the past two years. He is going to AHL Cleveland next year to develop but may be one of the best defensemen the Kackets have in a couple of years. A lot to like about him.

The other thing is that asking price is just way unrealistic. You could probably get a couple of mid round picks and a middling prospect but that is about it. Cap space is a premium.

As another Flyers fan chiming in, I think you’re totally off base. Saying Columbus doesn’t NEED Hayes may be true but it’s been widely reunited by national and local guys that Chuck and Jarmo started a Hayes trade at the deadline to revisit in the summer so even though you may think Hayes isn’t needed, your GM may think differently. The Flyers aren’t in need of cap either, we are rebuilding so not signing big time free agents so there is no need to shed cap he just isn’t in the Flyers plans moving forward so retaining Hayes isn’t a cap dump. Nobody on earth is getting paid to take Hayes at ~50% retention that’s just insane. The guys was a point per game player for most of the season and an all-star. While the ask may not be anything crazy the Flyers aren’t going to pay anyone to take him while retaining that’s just hilarious.

While the cap space part could be true, the idea of a rebuild will bring down ticket sales. That in turn will get ownership to demand that the GM to cut payroll cost. It ALWAYS happens.

Ticket sales have been down for 2 years and the Flyers are still right up against the cap and now they will be shedding JVR’s $7 million. They don’t need to cap dump anyone you’re just simply misinformed. The Flyers aren’t desperate to do anything except stock up on picks and prospects so they definitely aren’t giving anything away to get rid of players that’s literally the complete opposite of their goal.

Your still missing the point. The Flyers need resources to rebuild. The Flyers will try to cut cost and gain assets. The best chance for the Flyers to gain assets is to gain cap room to take on bad contracts. But to do that they need to clear cap.

Lmao that makes no sense. So your idea of us gaining assets is to spend assets to get rid of players to get assets to take players back? At that point you’re barely breaking even that makes no sense. You wouldn’t spend assets to get relatively the same assets back that’s delusional. We already have around $15 million in cap coming up to take on bad contracts nobody is paying someone to take Hayes lol.
