Unless he's going to be diminished by his recent injuries, trading Forsberg is not what they should do. They should do add a goalie on top of him and let Sogaard develop in the AHL. He's young and needs more time

But yes trading DeBrincat for 2 cheaper forwards is something they will absolutely have to do. Crazy that a NHL GM doesn't have a foresight to see these things coming

Forsberg hasn’t been very good and to me would just be another bandaid the sharks goalie issues.
plus with the sharks in full rebuild giving up a 4th for an older rental seems counterproductive.

I'd hope Grier can do better in UFA for the Sharks' goaltending woes.

I don't think Seattle is the dance partner for moving Debrincat. cap # is too high with some of the contracts they have coming up (Dunn 6-8x6.5-7.5) and Beniers. Additionally still trying to build out a prospect pool so not moving the #1 picks just yet.

Au contraire, Forsberg has been excellent in Ottawa, particularly last season where he finished top-12 in GSAA, similar to Tatcher Demko

But not only that, 0.917 SV% on the Sens and the very poor defensive structure is nothing short of Vezina level.

He was not as good this season but don't get fooled by the numbers, it has not been easy to be a goalie in Ottawa for years, Dorion and DJ Smith has no idea how to build a proper roster and instill 2-way hockey

He was still much better than Talbot despite the small 0.004 SV% difference

This proposal was just one fan idea, doubt many Sens fans (who understand what I said above) would do it. I wouldn't trade Forsberg for a 2nd for example

Add an experienced solid goalie to Forsberg. Let Sogaard develop in the AHL

Keep him then! He fits your guys window more than the sharks, I see the sharks offering up trades bringing in a cap dump reclamation project like Petersen from LAK. Someone younger than 3 who will come with a high pick for taking on their contract and then we can see if we can revive their career or just ride out the deals

You're also not in a rush to fix your goalie situation

I don't know if they openly talk about their rebuild situation but they won't make the playoffs next season

They are still calling it a “re-tool” which technically it is lol retooling their prospect pool and then their big club over 5 years, but that’s not a rebuild gentlemen!
No sharks won’t start getting better till 24/25 when these kids will finally start pushing into the lineup and they will have cap space to fill voids. So 1-2 year cap dumps for picks seems more logical than trading picks for short term fixes.
