Seattle would do that on the condition they can flip Schwartz, which sounds simple, but is probably not happening. Good trade, but Seattle is declines

Why would Ryan and Janmark get raises? And I don't see Edmonton trading Yamamoto without having a replacement ready.

Otherwise I think the gist of this is how I see the summer playing out - most guys re-signed, 1 salary moved out to accommodate Bouchard's mid-term bridge, Holloway & Lavoie on the roster, nibbling around the edges type stuff.

Seems like moving Yamamoto is a cap dump type move which I think lowers the pick involved. I watched him play in the dub against my team enough to know what he brings to the table but not sure if Seattle needs more of that. Agree with the comment above in that Seattle needs to move someone on wing for that to occur - not sure who but it would have to be someone with a higher cap #.

A 24 year old who scored 20 goals, was 0.5 point a game player in the playoffs while healthy on a team that went to the western conference final, and is a RFA at the end of his contract is not a cap dump.

Then why move him? As the proposing team it sounds like what is being said is a second round pick and low cost veterans are more valuable then him on your roster. So numbers aside there are other issues and maybe it's the contract making it a dump.

You don't know what the term cap dump is used for is all you have expressed here. I'm not going to explain it to you, but take the time yourself to look up previous trades that are referred to as cap dumps in the media (not blogs). It's being used improperly by internet trolls to disparage players in attempts to win arguments now. While It was helpful in identifying said trolls, and the uninformed part time hockey fans before. I'm afraid because dumb people learn from internet comments now, it's changed what was common knowledge.

I didn't say anything about moving any player. I only commented on your use of the term "cap dump"

That's fair. But if Edmonton doesn't move Yamamoto how do they afford him at the end of the current deal. It's going to be a bridge since he'll be a UFA at the end of it and it's going to be more than 3.5 in terms of cost and term. Can Edmonton afford Bouchard and Yamamoto with the existing structures? No. So yes, it's a cap dump in that Edmonton cannot afford him at the end of the current term without other restructuring of contracts.

You're welcome to say I'm wrong but at the end of the day I ask again, why would you trade him and replace him with affordable veterans? It's because Edmonton can't afford his next contract so they are trying to get something.

Who is saying that they would? Anyone credible? The only place I'm seeing this suggestion is in this one particular AGM.

You move him because you need to re-sign Bouch and McLeod and I'd personally like to see Bjustad and Kostin stick around with raises.
