My Stars Offseason

Created by: kdawg32086
Team: 2023-24 Dallas Stars
Initial Creation Date: Apr. 24, 2023
Published: Apr. 26, 2023
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
This is not what Jim Nill would do, but rather what I would do. The core of this team and prospect pool is good, but they need some enforcers to keep opposing teams from taking shots at guys like Robertson, Hintz, Pavelski, and Heiskanen.

Maybe for Armia but it’s not a real upgrade

One-for-one, I don't think the Habs do it. When healthy, Evans can be just as effective of a player as Faksa, he's younger, cheaper.

MTL can't say no to that. Faksa is just a bigger and better 4C. He's not cheap, but could fetch a nice return at 2025 TDL at half the salary.

Hughes could use the cap difference to pull out a Monahan like trade in the offseason.

I know point totals don't tell the whole story, but Evans is a year removed from a 30 points season...something Faksa hasn't done since 2018-19. Unless this paves the way to a Dvorak deal, with the intention of using Faksa as the 3rd line center, I don't get the idea of swapping Evans for Faksa to be honest. That capspace could be use much more efficiently, don't you think ?

What's worst for MTL capspace? Adding $1.5M for a big left handed center good on faceoffs, or keeping Evans $1.7M on IR (and adding a replacement player caphit at 900k) because of his extended injury history? Choice is obvious for me.
