Probably right. This was a trade (minus Renouf) proposed by a B's fan. I liked it.

I think Carlo is kinda overrated. His underlying numbers are good but hes getting very favourable usage. Need a righty that can handle some responsibility.

Eyssimont would be a great add though. Wood not so much. Outside of 1 season hes been pretty awful. And he looks way out of place on a fast paced Devils team, which is what we are trying to emulate.

I know Boston can’t afford to trade him due to lack of RD depth.

WTF are you talking about? He is Boston’s top shutdown guy. Lol.

4th in even strength time on ice among bruins d-men

Received just under 16 minutes of even strength minutes per night. For reference, the guy he'd theoretically replace (Jokiharju), averaged around 20 even strength minutes.

Considering he’s on the 2nd pair, that would make sense. You expect him to get more minutes than Mac?

No I don't, Im saying the Sabres cant give up big assets for a guy who hasnt played those minutes. Its throwing him to the wolves. They did that to Jokiharju.

He also played the most minutes on the PK because….top shut down guy.

You don’t have to worry, as i said above, Boston can’t trade him. The signed RD behind him are Ryan Mast and….oh that’s it. Not getting moved unless it’s in a package for a long term C 25 or under….not many of those on the market.

I dont care about the PK stuff, the Sabres need a guy who can eat up even strength minutes before any special teams. And Im not worried about them setting for Carlo. I dont expect him to get moved either.

If the Bruins can't move Hall and/or Ullmark, Carlo seems like the guy that has to be traded. Good thought one the trade.

Which team has depth on RD ? Boston will be forced to move someone because of cap space. Can you move Taylor Hall ? Are you willing to move Ullmark, after he won Vezina ?
Both have procection so no cap dumping to Arizona or Chicago is possible. I don't think Ullmark is cap dump, but trade destination are very limited

They buyout Reilly and move Grizz or Forbort, sign the RFAs to bridge deals, bring up the kids to fill the roster, they are under the cap with the bonuses. It’s not that dire. Where it becomes in issue is if they want to add to the roster after that.

Hall is easy to move. Ullmark not so much, NTC to half the league will make it difficult, less than half the league will be looking for a #1 so he can make himself impossible to trade. Debrusk and Swayman would be painful to move but could if it came to it.

Points taken. But I think Carlo would be a big help to Power and the PK and I know Wood kinda faded, but they could really use his grit, even if he and Greenway were to switch lines.

All that assuming Krejci and Bergeron come back on very team friendly deals.

How is Taylor Hall easy to move ? 10 team no trade list - 2x6 mil - under 0,5 ppg in 22/23, declining and not so good reputation. I can assume Arizona, Chicago, Buffalo, NJD are on the list.

Boston have no picks available, outside 2025 1st which is too steep price for moving Hall.

Who said anythung about Bergy and DK? I didn’t. I fully expect DK to retire. Bergy is 50/50. Neither were factored into what i said.

Terrible take on Hall. He was asked to play a checking role on 3rd line this year. Of course his numbers were down. He can be moved to 21 teams without his consent.

This site has become ridiculous with the idea of what a bad contract or dump is. Apparently 90% of the league is a dump. 🙄

If Hall was a UFA not only would you have to pay him what he is making now, you’d have to give him more years than you’d want to. 2 years a 6m is solid value. And you are implying they have to pay to move him. JFC 🙄

PK was fifth worst in the league. Every little bit helps because the line between a playoff team and non-playoff team is very thin, as we in Sabreland found out this season.

ITs not a non issue for me either, just not the first priority. And I suspect a change in assistant coaches would go further than adding Carlo. Sabres have an insane pp personnel list, but more often than not it looks terrible, especially after teams doubled up on Tage. Thats a system issue, not a talent one. I suspect the PK is similar (to a lesser extent)

Agree with systems, they never adapted special teams.

Its wild too because theyve had a ton of player turn over AND coaching turn over. Just feels like a really bad run of luck with special teams coaching.

How come losing 1C, 2C, being in cap hell has nothing to do with roster creation for next year ? You have to replace them first.

If you have to move a player along with his cap hit, in order to make room for other guy, you clearly are cap dumping him. And there is no surprise that other team are not interested to do hockey trade for such player.

1). Go back and look. You commented that my comment was assuming that Bergy and DK came back on cheap deals. No…it didn’t. In fact just the opposite. You were putting words into my mouth.

As far as replacing them. Zacha will move from wing to C. That leaves them just needing a #1. Unless Bergy comes back they won’t be getting one. They will have to make do. They simply don’t have the cap and nobody available is worth the roster shuffling they’d have to do unless something/someone unexpected happens.

2). Never said they would trade Hall, just said they’d have no problem doing it if they decided to. As far as teams go. 🤷🏻‍♂️. I’d need his list 1st. But Canes and Avs seem to be solid bets if they did. Hall would replace Max. Half the Avs forwards are going UFA and who knows what will happen with Nichushkin. With 21 teams to work with there will be 3-5 that they could work with. The rest won’t have a need/desire or cap.

3) Nope. A dump is someone you have to pay to move (which you implied) because he has little to no value along with a problematic contract. Hall is neither of those things. Similar to Bjorkstrand was to Columbus, they took 50 cents on the dollar out of necessity but there was someone happy to take him.

As i stated above. They buyout Reilly and trade either Forbort or Grizz for a pick. At that point they don’t HAVE to do anything more, they’d like to, but they aren’t desperate.

4 players will dictate how their offseason plays out. Bergy, Swayman, Frederic, and Bertuzzi. Will 37 come back? Do Sway and Freddy sign team friendly deals or do they add to the problem? Do they sign quick or open up the offer sheet possibility? Does Bert have any interest in staying? The answer to those questions will either make Boston’s offseason fairly simple or incredibly difficult. Regardless Donny will be busy…and stressed.
