At least the Rangers don't have to send a 1st round pick to Chicago for that empty shirt named Kane. If Drury signs him he should be fired immediately.

At least Kane put up points. at 2.5 mil he outproduced Kakko Panarin Trocheck and Laf combined. Hardly the reason they lost

If he signs him it’s a league min deal.

He had 1 good game the entire time he was a Ranger and hopefully never puts the sweater on again. His defense is abysmal and his negatives WAY outweigh anything good he does. This does not absolve the others you mentioned, but Kakko and Laffy are still kids, not future hall of famers brought in to make a difference.

That's not even worth it IMO. It will just get in the way of a kid getting ice time and ruin the top PP unit forcing Mika to the bumper. No thanks to Kane.

Sure, Im not arguing that Kane was some standout guy. But he's hardly the reason they lost. You're paying Panarin 11 mil and he drops 2 assists in a 7 game series? These guys who have been your core group of guys all season just didnt show up outside of Kreider and Fox. Kane didnt do enough to singlehandedly make them good or anything. But if came in planning on him outscoring these guys in the playoffs, you werent going to win anyway.

Yes, problem no one else did. And getting rid of all those players you mentioned is not the solution.

1 good game his entire Ranger career. Waste of space every other game. Thanks god we didn't give up much for him.

You’re looking at a stat sheet for points. Had you of watched the games, any of the kid line who didn’t put up points out played Kane. But ya, if a few good powerplay shifts constitutes as outplaying a more dominant line then sure.. haha.. he outplayed them hahaha… stats show it hahaha

Ya, so, I personally would sign him to the 1mil and play him on the 3rd line with trochek and othmann. The kid line needs to be a top 2 line and panarin needs to step up and play RW with Mika and kreider. PP times can be split evenly or play the hotter unit more…but if Mika isn’t taking the one timer then that’s a coaching issue.

It's not a bad plan, but what I saw in Kane's play was an old, slow forward that has no idea how to play D and is soft as tissue paper. For every nice pass he made he turned the puck over twice. I just don't see how he helps the team win a cup.

There were many problems. We all know who Kaner is. No one should be surprised by any of this. He's an offensively elite skilled player that leaves more to be desired defensively. He's been that way his entire career. Through all 3 cups, Hart, and Conn Smythe...same Kaner. This issue is that Drury had 3 of those guys in Panarin/Tarasenko/Kane. A team can have 1/2 of those players to create offense...which Kaner did in the playoffs more than most of the NYR. Having 3 means that the rest of the team needs to step up defensively and NONE of them did. Heck even Kreider (who had a better playoff clearly than Kaner) came out and said his own defense was $hit this series. Yes, I understand the eye test wasn't great for Kaner. He didn't even play on the #1PP unit at the end. There is plenty of blame to go around. Kaner isn't the 1st on the list...Panarin 100% is 1st on that list. Kaner isn't 2nd or 3rd either. Pick from Trocheck/Laf/KK/even Tarasenko didn't play as well...he only had 1 good game all series too.

I don't blame Kane. Heck I don't even blame NYR management or coaching. It is just a very NYR thing to do... unfortunate Kane fell for it, and management and some fans. And you are right I do hold Panarin more accountable and his 11.6 M, for this I demand much more. But whole team seemed off, ever since the big moves. Maybe the curse is real?

I don't believe that "curse" is real. It wasn't that long ago the NYR won it all. Just last year ECF.

I'm know I'm bias, but Tarasenko wasn't really needed. The NYR had scoring. Playing is what they needed more. Getting BOTH Kane/Tarasenko was a mistake.

1994 was the last time NYR won. That is a long time ago.
And as for Kane vs Tarasenko... I just don't know who would be better, but all of it clearly wasn't it...
