I wouldn't be thrilled to give up Holtz for two years of Marchand

I think for the Bruins to part ways with Marchand it would have to be something like this package. Devils are in a win-now scenario, Marchand could propel them to that next level.

Overpay for Wood and why would sign Bertuzzi if they rebuild let alone to this contract?

Might be better labeled as a “retool”, as I think this team would still compete for a WC spot.

Devils are not in a win-now scenario. Win-now means the window is closing. For the Devils, it is not.

They're in their window. They are buyers, but they still need to consider the long term and medium term impacts of moves they make. Marchand is a short term move, and Holtz is their top forward prospect.

Which one? I can't imagine anyone wants Forbort unless there is a pick attached or their PK is insanely bad.

Also, Wood struggled this year. Was out all of last year, so likely that recovery, conditioning played a factor…still worth taking a flier on, but $3.5m would about twice what I would expect for him. I would go around $1.5m (ish) for 1-2 years.

(And I think going home to Boston is a very possible destination for him)
