They missed by literally a point. Not figuratively, literally. And all while they were receiving AHL level goaltending.

... Almost every team in front of them in the division this year will regress next season due to the salary cap alone. Slightly above average goaltending should give them every opportunity to win the division...

Um, then what's a fair offer?

I think it will be difficult to get Andersson...but Tanev, cost will be clearly less.
To all my fellow Sabre fans, it will be shocking if the Sabres do not make the playoffs.
First, it is highly unlikely that they will go 8 games without a point or 12 games with only 6 points next year.
Second, I may be overly optimistic, but when Cozens was 21 yo he played 79 games scoring 13 goals and 38 pts.
21 yo Peterka and Quinn played 77/75 games scoring 12/14 goals and 32/37 pts.
They may be able to make a similar leap as Dylan.
Fourth, most NHL defensemen do not get to the NHL until they are 23 yo, all of the Sabres top four defensemen were younger than that, the entire corps will be better next year.
Finally, Levi is the realy deal.
Of his five wins two were against the Rangers and one against the Canes and he won both of his shoot outs.
He will deliver well above AVG GK for the Sabres.
As to the trade, keep all of the big assets and try to get Tanev. He more closely fits the mold of RHD the Sabres need to pair with Power.

Bot remotely available. Not sure what a fair offer would be but it would probably be more than Chychrun
To my fine friend from Calgary, this is significantly more than Arizona received for Chychrun.
You are correct it would take a kings ransom to pry Andersson away from the Flames, and they should hold out for more than this.
Arizona is guaranteed a first and two seconds, this deal is three first round picks.
This deal also would more closely fit the Flames time line.
Jokiharju is in the NHL (completing his 5th year at only 23 yo).
Rosén is playing in the AHL against men and while not among the team leaders has still produced 37 pts in 66 games and did not turn 20 until March 15th.
When he adds a few more poinds he will be in the NHL.
@Ledge_And_Dairy what would be a fair offer for Tanev?
