Nothing because we wouldn't trade him to a division rival for no reason at all.

That isn't an issue with Veleno. He's a slightly above average bottom 6 forward. Besides Yzerman traded Bertuzzi to Boston.

Pending ufa who wasn't getting resigned vs a player that lalonde and Yzerman like and perron and copp love and think could offer more. Can't see them trading him for a pick or prospect. Only way he gets dealt is if it's for a significant piece and he's part of the package

His actual value isn't anything really, maybe a 3rd rounder. You can get guys in free agency who can do the same things he can.

Interdivisional trades are becoming more and more common.

Just don't see the point of giving him up in the same division for no reason at all. He works hard every shift and will be a good playerm

I like Veleno as a bottom 6 guy. I just think the idea of not trading within the division is overblown.

Yes but trading him for a pick to the leafs or trading him to the ducks for a pick means something way different here. Why help them get better

If it’s a pick that’s close then sure. But if the Leafs were to offer say pick 56 and the Ducks offer pick 70 or whatever, I’d take the better pick.
All that said, I doubt Yzerman trades him.
