Description
Here's my idea of. an offseason to puta more competitive team on the ice with Bedard coming to Chicago. The plan behind this is to bring in players who can help win now, but not sacrifice any of the future. I also wanted to make sure no one is in the books for 2026-27 (apart from Seth Jones), when Bedard's extension will kick in and a lot of prospects will be coming up and the rebuild will be over.

- Lafrenière - This is the player I had the some fun with, the Rangers are in cap hell, and cannot give Laf 4.2 mil AAV, but this isn't much of a problem for the hawks, the AAV means its only a 2024 2nd in compensation and the ceiling for Laf is still there and he can have a more expanded role on this Blackhawks team playing with 0 expectations. If the Rangers do match, I would still see them trying to trade Laf as he would not be worth the 4.2 mil to them, and maybe the Blackhawks increase the compensation to something a little bit more than the 2nd round pick.
- Kane - Obvious, bring him back
- Duchene - Hasn't produced enough for an 8 mil AAV and the preds will want to get back into the postseason next year and will need to clear some cap space to improve the roster. The Edmonton 1st should be late first round, but if they are unwilling to give that up them they should be willing to part with a second round pick. Would be a proven veteran to play second line center and be on the first PP unit.
- Reilly - Not wanted in Boston, and they will be in cap hell. I expect 2 of the hawks prospects to make the NHL roster next season, but i don't know who yet. Would be very helpful to add a veteran LHD in the mix, and pick up a draft pick in the process.
- Cogliano & Watson - Just veteran forth liners, could be any veteran.

It seems like Commesso will be a go for next season, but if not Söderblom will probably be on the roster and they sign a 3rd goalie.

Not a chance Commesso plays for the hawks next year. He was a very lackluster goalie on a very good BU team. He should be in Rockford at least two years.

It's not that simple... your'e RFA priority #1 is miller, and if you are able to get him and Laf both at 4.2 that leaves NYR at 3.3 mil in cap space, and you would still need a backup goalie a third pairing d man 3 more forwards as well as room for extra roster players. If NYR does match, I expect them to try and trade him to get more value than the 2024 2nd.

Haven't really followed him that much, just from places I've heard he could be in the NHL next year, but I would expect the hawks to replace him with Söderblom and sign a veteran like Aaron Dell to be in the org as well.

It’s a damn shame that goodrows buyout is only 200k against our cap! Oh heavens whatever shall we do!

Duchene has actually been good the last two seasons. He might not have a ton of value, but he's definitely wouldn't cost a 1st to dump. If Nashville really wanted to move him and were willing to retain like $1.5M, they might actually be able to get a quality return for him.

If you plan on buying out someone with 4 years left on his deal, be my guest. This still leaves you with 7 mil in cap space, while still needing a backup goalie, third pairing d man, 5 bottom 6 forwards and extra roster players.

he was elite a couple of seasons ago, but his advanced number sucked, and he took a pretty big step back this year, I probably did over value his cap dump, but if they take on his 3x$8mil they shouldn't be giving up anything of value.

But at $6-6.5M, he'd actually garner a quality return. I could see it being a Max Pacioretty situation where they just want to be completely rid of his cap hit and give him up for future considerations, but I don't think they'd need to pay to move him.

Othmann, cuylle, Brodzinski/cheap 4C, motte.

Halak can come back cheap

Lord only knows whats gonna happen with Kane if he comes back dirt cheap or not.

We’ll be fine, we’ll match.

Boston has no 1st or 2nd and isn't trading a 3rd to move Reilly. It'd be easier just to buy him out and gain about $2.7 million in cap space next season.

Not a chance nashville pays a team to take their 2nd most productive forward. Last season duchene produced at his career average pace (~0.31 G/GP, ~0.47 A/GP) inspite of being on an offensively challenged team.
