I would certainly do that. We'll have to see what the Minnesota guys have to say.

With Spurgeon, Addison and Faber, is there room for him on the right?

Seems like a reasonable return value for Durzi.

Calen Addison seems to be in Dean Evason's doghouse, and the Wild may be looking to move him. In any event, Durzi is superior.

I think both of you get at why this kind of doesn't make sense for either side.

Durzi and Addison seem like very similar players. Both generate most of their points on the power play, and are underwhelming (to put it nicely) at 5v5, especially in their own end. Does it make any sense for the Wild- who have had much ink spilled about their serious cap issues- to trade Addison and then pay to acquire a similar one-way defenseman who is more expensive? Any superiority that Durzi has (and I don't disagree that he's better than Addison, though he's more experienced) is negated by his contract, which the Wild simply can't afford. Unless you're interested in taking Alex Goligoski, they need someone making near league minimum to replace Addison. So it's not that they can't make roster room for Durzi, I don't think they can make CAP room for him, even with moving out Addison.

As for the Kings side, Durzi is superior to Addison and he's the best player in this trade, so it's hard to see this as anything other than a step back on their back end. O'Rourke is the seventh best defenseman in the Wild's system according to Elite Prospects, 5th best according to the Athletic, and if he has an NHL career it seems like it's going to happen as a bottom pair defenseman, and not in the immediate future. He was ranked behind Helge Grans by Elite Prospects in the overall prospect rankings. So in the short term, the Kings get worse. I get that there's a significant roster logjam on the backend for the Kings with Spence and Brandt coming up but I feel like Durzi is worth more to the Kings given that they're trying to transition from bubble team to legit contender than whatever that 2nd and Ryan O'Rourke are going to do for you in 3-4 years. Might be fair enough value but, idk, seems kind of unhelpful for a guy they don't seem to have to trade given where the team is now. I'd be way more inclined to move the more expensive Walker, even if I got nothing back.

Wild would be smart to make this move then move Addison for a 2nd as well.
