Remarkably lively conversation regarding when an NHL player reaches their peak.
Makes one wonder why any NHL GM would offer any contract to a UFA.
As to the Sabres Mittelstadt, Tuch, Olofsson and Skinner had their career best years at 24, 27, 27 and 30 respectively, so I guess it depends on the player as to when they will reach their peak.
It would be shocking if Power, Krebs, Quinn and Peterka were not significantly better next year.
Will they make the same giant leap that Cozens did? Probably not to the same magnitude but certainly noteworthy.
As to the cap it will be $83.5KK next year and higher the following year while nearly certainly dropping Olofsson's $4,750,000 and Okposo's $3,000,000.
Hard to predict, but Thompson, Cozens and Samuelsson all took very friendly contracts, let's hope Power and Dahlin follow the pattern.
As to the UFA's great additions and could be sufficient to help the team reach 100 pts next season.
Maybe a bit rich for Mayfield but to your point worldwidesensei that you did not want to under pay him.
As to next season, Adding a years experience to the young team should keep the team from suffering an 8 game stretch of Zero pts and a 12 game period with only 6.
100 pts IMO is certainable obrainable.
Well you all have good days, GO SABRES.

That's the problem with "averages". When you talk about "average", you are including "above average" and "below average".
There are a lot more "below average" players that last 1-2-3 seasons.
When I just look at the top 100 in points (I understand this is a simple look at things, but I'm not about to do a huge big deep dive on the matter), I see:
18: 0 players
19: 0
20: 0
21: 5
22: 1
23: 6
Okay, according to the peaking chart there should be way more than 12/100, no?
24: 13
25: 10
26: 18 ( Wow, why are there so many 26 year olds, if players peak at 23?)
27: 8
28: 4
29: 11
30: 3
31: 3
32: 5
33: 3
34: 1
35: 4
36: 1
37: 3
38:1
If you look at those "peak years" charts, you'd think 21-24 year olds rule the league.
Looking at the top-100 in points, I see"
12: 21-23-year-olds
26-year-olds have the largest percentage by year of any age
75 players 25 or older.
