Description
This is a completely different WPG team than the ones I normally propose. I wanted to explore the idea of trading Hellebuyck...I'll be honest, I don't think the NJD trade is all that realistic, but wow, would I ever love to have Bratt.

Also, I signed Monahan under the assumption that he is 100% healthy. I figured CHI would have some interest in Dvorak since he's an Illinois native. Maybe a 2nd is a bit too ambitious so ignore the value, just wanted to show that is where he would be traded to.

Thoughts on this squad Jets fans?

Dvorak could make sense for the Hawks, but idk if I want to give up a 2nd in this draft class during a rebuild, so your analysis matches the thought process there pretty well

Don't get me wrong, I realize the trade is unlikely...but a guy can dream right?!

Hawks probably wouldn't be interested in giving up anything for Dvorak. His actual salary is almost $6m per the next 2 seasons. He nowhere close to a $6m player. Hawks can overpay a UFA instead and retain their assets.

I Honestly don't think New Jersey needs Hellebuyck. Schmid looks like he is ready to grab the reins in Jersey. This team just went from the basement to the top in one year and shouldn't rush into anything just yet. They still have a bunch of high end talent about to break into the league.

If Winnipeg gets Dvorak, they should probably just keep him for a year or two and see if Lambert or Perfetti can make the jump to a 1C.

Don't mind the signings. Reeves would help a lot for those Central division opponents. I like that you have him on the bench because he is not a regular anymore.

Defence is hurting though. I think they need to target a player like Gudas who plays on the edge. Not sure Dillion is capable of playing right side either. I have watched a lot of Heinola as a Moose season ticket holder and nothing I see shows me he is NHL ready. High hockey IQ but too small to be effective.

Would a trade of Nemec straight up for Hellebuyck be realistic? I know he was drafted 2nd overall and they have high hopes for him. Just curious if a guy like Hellebuyck with an extension would make them look at it.

I think Jersey would only make that trade for Sorokin. Hellebuyck being a little older makes it much riskier.

Nemec and Holtz should not be on the table here. Bratt is only on the table in a scenario where extension talks go south

Nemec would not be an option. Nor Hughes, Holtz, Schmid, Mercer...

I would be curious what a deal for Helle would look like….I can start the conversation with our 24 1st and Vitek/Schmid. Nemec is held in the same regard as Luke Hughes and I’m not trying to devalue a possible Vezina winner, but they won’t move either one to them for anything. Alex Holtz is definitely going to be on our top 6 next season, so can’t see that either. Beyond that, high end prospects include: Seamus Casey and Arseni Gritsyuk. Definitely some other good prospects below that level: Topias Villen, Graeme Clarke, Nolan Foote. All I’d say is we just went through a whole fiasco with shark fans on Timo=2 top prospects, nhl player, 1st rounder. So we just gotta be realistic on returns is what I’m saying.

I would say yes to a Bratt for Hellebuyck trade from devils perspective. Bratt is fantastic and he will continue to improve, but starting goalies are way more important than 1st line wingers especially in the playoffs. Schmid is too much of a wildcard to trust cause he has only been good for 1 season. Just look at Blackwoods career. Provided that both players get big extensions I would do it.
