I mean, just betting on the former 1st overall to find another level playing next to mcdavid. the whole thing is unrealistic anyway due to NMC's

laugh Edmonton is already capped strapped, And taking on Panarin and Trocheck far exceeds McDavid and Yamamoto and Kulaks money wise And that's not even including what K'Andre Miller will get as an RFA.

Oilers probably have two rather large all in sell the farm for next two seasons and then possibly a trade of some sort, if the tune is he isn’t resigning so trade would probably be a with 1 year left on deal and possibly no guarantee on extension. So package back probably rather challenging to predict, oilers probably would want to recoup some traded draft capital and kids and cap dumps to make it all work.

The cap actually evens out for the bulk of the trade (outside Miller's next contract). I would gladly throw in Jones and an additional 1st instead but I figured one of Miller/Laf would have to be included.

I tried to keep it so Edmonton could continue to compete while getting futures. Panarin/Trocheck help them win now, Miller helps them long term on D, Garand is a future starting goalie and Sykora is a decent middle six prospect (most likely 3rd line). The picks are self explanatory. It was definitely hard to do because both NYR and Edmonton are cap strapped. I figured they could always also sell Panarin if it doesn't work out for a decent haul (while likely retaining salary) if they were to do the sell off.

If Edmonton’s trading Edmonton isn’t competing period, it’s two feet on the gas, or bottom out and run of first overalls again and try it again.
