Don't think the hawks should do it. They stripped the team down too much for them to change paths now. You'd have 3 years to build a championship team around McDavid with very few pieces in place. Rather stick to the plan and enjoy the long build with the teenager.

Not a chance the Hawks do this. Not only does McDavid not do much to a team that has been torn down, nor would he accept, but Bedard locked down via contract for years on a ELC is worth more then 3 years of McDavid at 12 times the price for those 3 years just 1 for 1 not to mention the additive value you are asking from the Hawks.
