The weird thing is that the Hawks seem fairly high on Johnson for some reason. In my opinion, they have enough of his type (bottom six with grit) that he's easily expendable. If I were the Hawks I take this deal. Yamamoto is a good player and still very young.

Wings pass, not a player they would target

I can see this as very close if the cap goes up this much. I would spend the 1.5 on a rh pk specialist instead of Monahan.

The cap for 2023/2024 is set at $83.5M. Just an FYI. Hawks accept. They can try to flip Yamamoto now that he'll get more ice time.

He's fine for what he is and would pair well with Chairot on the bottom pair and in a PK role... he's not my first choice, but I would't mind it...

Have I missed this somewhere? The NHL doesn't even know its revenue for the 2022-2023 season yet. This is from 2 days ago, so unless something changed....

Ok, fair comment regarding "official" or not. Link below for details. Seems like IF the NHL generates above $100M more than their already increased forecast...then there is potential. Very tall task and a blanketed $83.5M if not achieved.

It's not only about revenue. There are also NHL and NHLPA negotiations that are ongoing.

I'm not really set on him anyway. I think Chicago would be a good landing spot for him and it's only a one year commitment to try out a former first round pick a year removed from scoring 20 goals.. while Edmonton needs the cap space. Seems like a fit.

Except I just heard Frank Seravelli say yesterday on Bob Stauffer's show it could go up as much as 3 to 3.5 million.

He had quite a good first year with Edmonton after a nice run with the Penguins. Banged up this year. I don't hate keeping him, but I also think some change would be good.
