With Marner and minus Byfield and Arvidsson, we're at $82.5 million for 10 forwards, 6 defensemen and 2 goaltenders, and with our glaring hole at #2 LhD unaddressed which we'd like to fill with a quality free agent like Vlad Gavrikov or Ryan Graves, who are going to cost north of $4 million. Now how's that going to work? And that's with including Gabe Vilardi in your trade, because he isn't included in the 10 forwards/$82.5 million group. So for every player we have to sell off to get to the $83.5 million 2023-2024 cap limit, we create another roster hole that just has to be filled with a $1 million cap-hit player, which is kinda like playing Whack-A-Mole-Russian-Roulette, because if we sell off a $4 million contract, that's really only a $3 million savings.

Sorry, we'll keep building from the ground up. You Toronto guys will just have to give this particular wet dream up.

What would you get? Keep it realistic...I was just aiming for a better playoff team with the money a bit better spread through the lineup. Could do a Murray move and get another player as well, but I was more focused on doing Marner and Matthews trades with this.
