Leafs fans, are you guys trolling or do you legitimately think Wilson is moving? No sane GM is going to offer the caps what it would take for them to consider moving wilson. We can sit here on this site and make our crazy overpayments (this isn’t one of those), but there is a less than 0 chance of Wilson being traded.

You didn't see the trade above? This is about as big an overpay a team could make. A 26 year old, 100 point winger who's a selke finish for a 30 year old 40 point winger who gets suspended almost once a year.

Marner has never had an 100 point season, despite coming very close this past year. Also only 56 of his points came at 5 v 5 and at even strength that number only jumps to 58. Most impressive thing about Marner from a statistical stand point is his four goals and five points on the PK. While that is impressive, short handed goals aren’t indicative of a good PK. Leafs were twelfth ranked in the regular season, but weren’t strong in either playoff series.

Tied for 20th in the NHL in even strength points. 6 more even strength points than Wilson has ever had total points

He’s very good when he’s playing with some combination of Tavares, Mathews, Bunting, and Nylander

Yet somehow Mitch Marner and the leafs have less conference finals appearances than Anthony Beauvillier, did with the Isles which suggests something is wrong in Toronto. Florida is winning games with two thirds of the three stooges (Staal Bros) so don’t tell me it’s a depth thing.

I guess that means Matt murray is better than Dominik hasek.

What does that have to do with anything? Leafs haven’t found playoff success because their star players don’t have the same impact as guys like Tkachuk…. Meanwhile you see teams that have one with very few star players the past few years. Like the team without its best winger rn, or the Josh Bailey driven isles lmao.

Oh yes. Marner a 11m dollar winger for Wilson 5.1m + Kuzy 7.8m so basically I can have Marner w2 million extra in cap space OR 2 top 6 players for basically the same price? Yeah this is exactly why TML get bounced every year. 1 player cap hit basically = 2 really great players cap hit. Lmfao keep Marner I’ll take Wilson and Kuzy who are proven winners.

This is why I muted him lmao everything the leafs could trade for Wilson is an overpay. 100% spot on - leafs won’t win anything when 50% of their cap is tied up in 4 players who disappeared in round 2.

He's been on a 100 point pace for 3 straight seasons. He's very good on the PK and at 5v5. Not sure what you are suggesting here.

He hasn’t hit 100 points and he doesn’t win ****. I’m suggesting that he isn’t worth his contract even if he’s a very good player. I’d rather have Nylander who will probably cost less to acquire anyway.

Kuzy the coke head sucks. Combined they still amount to less than Marner. Enjoy the long and sad fall to futility friend

He costs 11 million dollars and gets to play with one of the top five players in the world. He’s not going to produce the same way on LI.

Guy is more valuable than Matthews or Marner coming off an injury plagued season. Power forwards don’t age well.

He's a top 5 winger in his own right. He's produced with everyone he plays with. This is just the usual leaf bias on this site.

If you don’t believe me look at how everyone in Calgary’s numbers cratered without their first line. Premier talent can legitimately make life easier for guys on the second or third line.

Look at Marner's career numbers. And then go look at who his most common linemates have been in each season. In his 3rd season, Babcock started him on the 4th line but he finished the season on a 90 point pace when he played with Kadri and Marleau. Yeah Kadri and Marleau. Then he gave JT his single best season of his career the next year and then Matthews hit new heights when Keefe put him with Marner.

I 100% am sure that you would argue that JT sucks and only gets points because of the other core members who also suck and only get points because of the other stars. It's a strange paradox where all of them are coasting on each other's coattails but are none of them are good on their own.

Lmao what? Tavares is still a quality top six center. I think that they have four high end options who can get things done in the regular season. That doesn’t mean that Marner isn’t overpaid or overvalued tho. I genuinely prefer Nylander and Mathews to him. 🤷‍♂️
