Team: 2023-24 Boston Bruins
Initial Creation Date: May 2, 2023
Published: May 22, 2023
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
- The team is going to take a step back. They still have an elite defenseman in Mcavoy, an elite winger in Pastrnak, and (on track to be) an elite goalie in Swayman. Add some support to this and a couple of young guys hit and that is the core for the next 5-10 years
- Assumes a 1mil cap increase
- Bergeron comes back/ Krejci doesn't
- I hate trading Ullmark but having around 8 mil in net next season with the cap penalties they already have would put them in a horrible spot. Swayman looks too good to move so I had to pick Ullmark.
- They have to let the young kids play, for cap reasons. They are going to have to hope that Merkulov, Lohrei, Beecher, and Bussi are ready to contribute and if they aren't and they are still in it maybe add at the deadline.

**Trades**
- Ullmark to Edmonton makes a lot of sense for both sides. I considered Bourgault but I really like Brobergs game.
- I think Hall would waive his nmc for Detroit. If he doesn't, I really wouldn't mind keeping him I think he gets too much hate.
- Forbort for a 4th instead? I'd still be fine with that.
- I don't get why Grzelyck was scratched in the playoffs but if they dont trust him, trade him. Turcotte is not worth his draft day value, but maybe a change of scenery can tap some of the potential he still has. I still think he is going to be a good player.

Wings pass, not helping Boston out of their cap issues for a player that doesn't fit their timeline and isn't worth his cap hit

I think Hall a under utilized last season and could rebound playing top line with Larkin and Raymond. Might be a valuable trade chip at the deadline.

We may give you a 5th for Forbort but we certainly aren’t giving a 3rd

Couple of things:

Hall does not have a full NMC. He has a 10 team NTC. I doubt Detroit is on it. He would not have to waive.

Grizz is not getting Turcotte.

Take one of the 2nds out from EDM. Closer. It’s Still think they pass on that. If you can pry Broberg from them you might have to take a lesser pick as the 2nd piece.

Forbort does not get a 3rd. 5th maybe.

Bertuzzi turned down that extension with Detroit which is why they traded him. I’d imagine he’ll test the market before signing that. I don’t think he’s worth more than that, he seems to think so though.

That Hall contract looks ugly right now, but I'd probably take a flier on him for this...

Los Angeles is not trading Alex Turcotte for Grzelcyk, on both cap and value grounds.

Why just let the young guys battle it out for open roster spots and let chips fall where they may. Trading future assets for a declining vet stopgap ain't helping Detroit at all

Meh, only has 2 years left and if he can score 20 a year, wouldn't be the worst thing... at some point, we need to use the draft capital to make ourselves better... he wouldn't be my first choice and I'd rather go a different route as well, just wouldn't be up in arms if this happened...
