LA declines, unlikely Matthews reups with LA when we used most our cap to get him and haven’t given him a starting goalie and replacement for Gavrikov. We’ll wait until the trade deadline or free agency, so the Kings look like a strong team and he’s the missing piece.

Its actually pretty likely Matthews would re-up with LA tbh.
In which case its a steal for LA.

Agree with this, LA doesn't have to overpay we just have to wait, we have a really good scenario for Matthews to sign as a free agent next season, it's actually much harder to make it work this season. Toronto got Tavares without losing an asset, why can't LA?

It's not a steal, it's a physical impossibility.

Combined cap hit of Byfield, Clarke (who isn't on the main roster) and Kempe = $6.4 million

Combined cap hit of Matthews and the utterly redundant and unnecessary Liljegren = $13 million

Current amount of Kings' cap space if Gabe Vilardi isn't included in the trade = zero

Matthews to LA would work if you replace Byfield with Alex Iafallo, Clarke with Sean Walker, Kempe with Cal Petersen, and added Viktor Arvidsson. Now does that look appetizing?

Seattle passes on Murray, we already got enough to worry about in net without adding more to that problem.

Byram's number looks really low.
