No they would not lol Jiricek is one of if not the best rhd prospect in the league why would they trade him 1 year after his draft where he was the 6th pick plus a pick this year to get 5th this year. Cmon man use your brain and put your thinking of if you were the other team would you trade that for a pick? No they don't boom no need to make a post

Not all drafts are equals.

The 2023 draft is way stronger than last year.

Jiricek, hell even Slafkovsky wouldn't be top 5 this year.

Which I guess why you added the LA's 1st.

This is actually LA trading up for Smith/Michkov by giving away 2 midrounders. MTL go quantity over quality while getting a perfect puzzle piece for their needs.

Not saying everybody woukd agree it's a win-win, but dam this a more interesting idea than most blogs and 99% of AGMs.

It's for original ideas like this I stick around here. Too few of them though.

Use your own brain and realize the draft order is just a number and not any indication of the absolute talent of a player.

With your faulty reasoning Slafkovsky and Bedard would have the same value because they are both 1st draft picks. Doesn't work like that.

Not worth for CBJ given their needs. Whoever is picked at 5 is going to be a better prospect than Jiricek at the time he was picked last year 100%, but he's grown since then and is looking like a near guarantee to at least be a solid NHLer, with great possibility of being a star.

Given that a top line RHD is probably 2nd only to a 1C on CBJ's need list, it wouldn't make sense for them to make this deal even if it's probably pretty even on paper value wise.
