God damn, I don’t know what that guy is sniffing unless it’s his own ass sweat. With their contracts Boeser and Myers are terrible fits anywhere other than VAN.

Interesting idea for Chicago. Value-wise, it's a slam dunk. If he signs an extension this would be a massive get, as he would be a great winger for Bedard.

Haha what?

Ironically they are both good fits with Anaheim. And you could have Boeser for the low cost of taking Myers, who would be a useful player to the Ducks. Just dont send back Strome thanks.

This is ironic and hillarious because both of these players are Cap Dumps.

Almost true. Myers carries only 1 mil in actually salary. Which is appealing. And Boeser is a young forward who you could take a flyer on returning to all star level if you need scoring help. There are varying degrees of cap dumps. Pacioretty was a cap dump and was playing incredible hockey at the time.

Tyler Myers is 33, carries a $4M Cap Hit (even after retention in the scenario being proposed), and had 17PTs this season. Who is that appealing to? With Boeser the situation is slightly better but still not great. I don’t see any team that takes both players (in the same trade) for free without a significant positive asset from Vancouver.

One million in actual salary is the appeal. For a team cap floor team or a team not near the cap ceiling it's appealing to add a defenseman with experience for 1 mil. Right sided as well, can play up and down a developing lineup. Anaheim went and signed Klingberg to fairly big money for about the same job Myers can do. You also can move him at the deadline with 50% retention (thats right youll pay a prorated 500k for a few months) for a 2nd or 3rd. Great fit for Anaheim, Arizona,

Boeser on the other hand is a former all star whos been through a lot of personal issues. Now that may just be an excuse but he is worth a flyer for a team that needs a top 6 right winger. Why not. If he develops in the two yrs great. If not you have a guy who can produce fairly well and then you move him at the 25' deadline as an expiring contract for a pick. Great fit for the likes of Chicago, Detroit, Montreal.

My evaluation would be it should cost roughly a 3rd to get out from the Myers deal. And it should cost roughly a 3rd to get Boeser. So they cancel each other out. That said the Canucks don't need to make themselves worse by trading down, or trading picks or taking on players with term to get out from this type of player. They are fairly useful and in the case of Myers expiring. If it is going to cost to unload good players like Boeser, Garland in Van than we should just keep them. It's as much an opportunity for the teams acquiring as it is for the Canucks to open cap space in my mind. Just move something else out the Canucks wouldn't have to shed much salary if they decide to bring back the same team so they're not in cap hell theyre more in cap purgatory.
