As much as I love Viktor Arvidsson, I would accept that offer as the Los Angeles GM. But why would you trade Aube-Kubel immediately after signing him?

Before anyone says anything, please keep in mind this is not a caps fan making this. And it’s obvious.

Washington is one of those teams that was bad for a reason, mostly because the top of the lineup. The guys like Hathaway (pre-trade), Sheary, Dowd, Milano, Strome did amazing this year. If Washington wants to compete, they will need to make changes from the top and then the skies the limit with how amazing some of the depth is on this team

They were bad because the coach was awful at utilizing key players and they were incredibly injured. Trading away Wilson, Backstrom, Oshie, and NAK shows that you don’t know what the problem was. Wilson looked great when he was healthy. Oshie did have health issues, but was a fantastic driver of play when he was healthy and he has had minimally invasive back surgery to alleviate his pain. Backstrom will never be moved regardless of whether or not he’s worth his contract, but he did look great on a line with Milano and Wilson and he can still be a key contributor if he has an up season next year. NAK was a great driver of play and energy guy for the bottom 6. This team you’ve put together isn’t it.

Oshie has been slightly above replacement level in GAR and xGAR over the last two seasons and not grading will in transition play at all at this point in his career. He is not a high end t6 fwd like he used to be and has two years on his contract to potentially get even worse. I respect NAK's game and was a good option for this team. Backstrom has been so bad over the last two years when he has been on the ice, they should probably find whatever means possible to clear some or most his contract. Wilson being 30 years old next year and expiring is a big question mark. it sucks to sell a player low like him, at the same time they run the risk of losing him for nothing or possibly signing him to a really brutal contract starting at the age of 30

I don’t think you understand. The moves you made here have a zero percent chance of happening.
