Canucks - Cap to 85

Created by: Hughesline
Team: 2023-24 Vancouver Canucks
Initial Creation Date: May 30, 2023
Published: May 30, 2023
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Summary:
-Pens add speed and gumption to their middle six via trade in a not so sexy UFA class
-Canucks need to expand their prospect pool, and do so moving back 6 spots from 11 as Stevie Y moves up to grab a falling Zach Benson
- CBJ jettison from their glut of RHD, adding picks and a more attractive deal to deal down the road than Roslovic
-Coyotes Coyote for the umpteenth time, adding significant cap commitment with minimal cash out while grabbing a draft pick upgrade and the promise of further return at the deadline when they retain on Myers

Like the idea of moving up from 17 to 11. Remove a second and Rathbone and deal.

I think it's probably closer to 1 2nd and taking back Myers.

Rathbone has zero value to Detroit... like others said, remove him on the VAN side and the STL 2nd on the Detroit side, and deal

Rathbone hasn't proved he belongs in the NHL and since he's 24 and has been playing pro hockey for 3 seasons the odds of him being a full time NHL player aren't very good.

Meh, Columbus doesn’t really need another wing and I’d still be hesitant on moving Peeke with our d cores injury history, he is a good depth player Columbus needs.

Beau is "just a wing" but he's easily better than most of what we've got. If Laine sticks at center, that does leave 2RW open, and to be honest, I'd rather have Beau at 4.5 than Boeser at 6.6. He has no injury history and is defensively competent. I look at this deal as a swap of him for Roslovic and the picks for Peeke.

Laine isn’t a center, he won’t stick let alone play center next season, it was a desperate move from a desperate coach trying not to get fired.

Even if Laine is moved off the right side, we still have plenty of players to fill that spot, but I would consider moving Roslovic for Beau.

As for the injury history I’m mostly looking at Werenski, Bean, Blankenburg and Boqvist.

Detroit already has 11 LHD within the organization, So why would we want another in Rathbon? Make it Tyler Myers plus the 11th overall for the 17th and 43rd overall picks.
