Fans can say whatever they want because their job isn’t to make a winning team. A GM will sign/trade for whoever they need if they think it will improve the team.

You think so? I’d be shocked if they let him go for so little unless he publicly comes out and says he wants to move. He’s a work horse and still young. I think a lot of GM’s would be willing to gamble on him, especially if they have a true #1 to play him with. Basically I think someone offers a better deal and if not, I think the Flyers keep him.

If a GM thinks Provorov is going to improve any team with the opportunity cost you lose by locking yourself to that player at that salary, your GM is not a serious GM.

Stanley Cups are great and all but not giving a platform to hatred is more important.

I think this is a decent offer for him personally not sure how they get too much more unless they retain

GMs disagree with you. They make moves for guys with questionable characters all of the time. Kane and Toews knew about the scandal in Chicago and covered it up to win a cup. DeAngelo is on his like 3rd or 4th team. Teams are literally salivating at the thought of Quennville being reinstated. The GMs job is to make their team better, and most GMs will do that without care of the baggage that comes with it

Dude it’s a 2 year contract and the Flyers can retain salary. Provy would be one of the best 2nd pairing defensemen in the league and is still a low end 1st pairing guy with a good partner. If you don’t like him as a person that’s totally fair but the dude on the ice eats minutes and blocks shots at will. Saying he won’t improve the team is ridiculous lol

Lol I will always be amazed that fans can spend countless hours watching the players on their teams and somehow still be so clueless. Provorov is not close to a low-end 1. Lol he has one good year. He will need to be next to a dman that will need to prop him up, and he has never shown that he can take on top comp and perform well. All that for $6.7mil? It's laughable.

Nobody is debating that Provy needs a good partner next to him that’s why he’s not a true #1 but he absolutely can be a 1A/1B player. Provy and Niskanen were one of the best pairings in the league in 2019 and the Flyers literally were the hottest team in the league before COVID hit and nosedived the team. He hasn’t had a real partner since then because of Flyers mismanagement. He can easily take on top competition with a good partner next to him and history proves that. If ur just gonna troll, get lost.

I agree that Provy needs that stable vet RHD but where do you find one? Those guys are overvalued. Gamble on a Dumba? Isn’t Klingberg a UFA? Overpaying for two guys who haven’t been great and no reason to think the mesh well with Provy. At least Nisky was Russian, and pretty cheap. Petry? Guys been pretty good actually but old, injury prone and locked in for awhile. Plus he’s a penguin. Would he be a stop gab until one of the RHD they draft in next years draft rolls in? They don’t have an in house solution. If they keep Provy they need to find him a partner.

He had good seasons before that too bud. Him and Ghost did great another year before that. The team has been a dumpster fire since COVID and they haven’t replaced him with a partner. 95% of defenseman in this league would look bad if they had Risto, Seeler, Gustafson next to them on a top pairing and that’s only a few to name. He also had to play with Connauton and Ghost as his defensive game was dying. DeAngelo who had a horrible year defensively and a bunch of rookies too. Provy hasn’t been set up to succeed and there’s maybe 5-6 guys in the whole league who would be able to.
