A fair offer for Hellebuyck only if he has extends and our goalies going forward are him and Levi. Then we’re set at goalie for the foreseeable future. I think that’s a little too much money and term for Jost, even though I’d like to see him back. These lines demonstrate that Olofsson is the piece that doesn’t quite fit. Cozens needs speed with him to attack off of the rush and Greenway and Olofsson have no speed. I think Cozens needs to stay with Quinn or Peterka at least, if not both. Maybe Greenway can play with Krebs and Quinn and Peterka-Cozens-Olofsson can work in a pinch. Olofsson might be traded as a deadline move because then his number with a retained salary will make him more attractive for teams to bolster the power play. For us, I think Peterka can take over his PP minutes and we’ll look to move him in the offseason.

I think that's way more than Buffalo would ever consider. I think they'd only want him as a rental.

Exactly! Paying more than a rental price puts pressure on the gm to get him extended. I want no part of that extension- I'm assuming it's a 7/70 type monster.

Thinking that's a bit much for Helly, but as a WPG Jets fan... I'm taking that and running.

Luukknnen and the the #13 overall is fair. Getting Östlund and the PHI 2nd rounder are big bonuses.

This idea of the valuation is close to correct, and would likely be the best offer you'd receive from Buffalo or anyone else.

Don't sleep on UPL -- he just needs another year or so of seasoning. He'll be half of a good goaltender tandem soon.

I'm thinking more like 5x8.5. It's clear that big long-term contracts ( like for Quick, Price, Bob -- despite his current playoff hot streak) become anchors toward the end. The real killer would be having an NMC.

Levi *might* be a great goalie, but I'm not ready to bet the franchise on him. 13OA and UPL is an affordable price for an elite G that (with a couple of smaller deals) moves them into contender status immediately. And we need to get that window open, because we want as many cracks at it as we can get.

If Levi pans out as elite, then we have a really good problem on our hands. If it takes an asset to move Hellebuyck's contract for the last two years, it gives us four potential runs at it starting NOW. We can deal with the cap issues as they arise to extend the window, as has been demonstrated in Chicago, Pittsburgh, Boston, Tampa, Vegas, etc.

It's still early, so we shouldn't be paying any desperation premium. But this looks like an opportunity to me.

That's a great point, and I agree, if he agrees to extend at 5/42, I'm in. I bet somebody would offer more, and if his agent thinks that way too, he doesn't sign.

It's a risk. What contender is going to offer more? Who's got both the cap and the window?
