The only issue I have about that trade is the term on Josi's deal. With Nikishin in the wings and Slavin probably being a career Cane, this kind of blocks the path for the Cane's best prospect

I love Josi but I don’t look at the Leafs and think we desperately need to upgrade in net. And 100% we don’t need to at that price 👎🏻

You know, with the way our PP was last year, I am not opposed to this move. Barrie could play on the 3rd pair with Zadorov, a pair that ironically killed the Flames in the 2019 playoffs.

Calgary wouldn't really be interested in Barrie.

Our blue line is already stacked and Anderson offers much of the same and is by far better in the defensive zone.

If you were to go scotched earth Calgary may be interested in Forsberg though.

Something around Kadri and a high pick ?

This…and it comes with quite an expensive price tag and acquisition costs. Josi is great, but that is a hard trade to make for both sides.

That Vancouver deal is an interesting one. Assuming they all play down the middle, it would give us very good depth at C with Pettersson, Miller, and Johansen, but a lot more money would have to be moved out with extensions to Pettersson and Hronek, among others kicking in the following year. Interesting idea!

Assuming all the trades above had been done already, I think I would do Forsberg for something around Hanifin, Huckins and a 1st. He's a 40/40 player in the prime of his career

Dude has hit 40 goals 1x in his career, he has also hit 40 assists 1x in his career, so yes technically he was a 40/40 player, but no one would consider him as such, also the dude legitimately can't stay healthy. Although props to him for looking like a villain from Rocky & Bullwinkle in the one headshot he took.

Agreed. If he were a center NSH might consider something based around him though.

Swap the 2nd for Morrow, and that's on okay return for Josi. CAR can keep Bokk (or rather, the DEL can keep him).

Why give up a pick to move Johansen, if you've got the cap space? Keep him for another year, then trade him retained at the next deadline.

Keep Barrie until the deadline, then make that deal.

Did you mean to just quote me? BC I didn't say anything about the other deals... Just that Knies and Lilly are our future beyond Matthews and don't want to give him up for anything

Yeah, I was responding to your comment, but I did have thoughts on the other proposals too.

NSH isn't going to be convinced to trade Saros for a package headlined by Knies, when they already have multiple prospects on the wing with higher ceilings. What they need in prospects is a true #1 center and/or a top pair RD.

That's fine, I was just saying from a Leafs perspective... Knies is way too valuable to trade
