Probably can’t re-sign him so they get a good puck moving defenseman who is locked up through his prime as they convert to an offensive transition team

WPG says... ? Is this someone from the Leafs calling? This is funny. The 27th pick and next years similar for the Jets first line winger and a young D with more promise than the STUPID JETS management gives him credit for.

Chevytakestoomanydaysoff would probably say yes to this deal, but he should have been fired a LONG time ago.

This is a HORRIBLE deal for WPG.

Can debate the value for Ehlers being 2 1sts. Being COL 1sts they're both late in the round, so I'm going to say no.

That's without retaining 2m for 2 years and the Heinola add-in, which value may be lower than what many Jets fans will hope but will not be nothing.

Ehlers shouldn't be on the trade block, but if he was, WPG would probably want more than a late 1st. Retention for two years is unlikely.

1. Why can't Calgary re-sign Lindholm? It's not even July 1st yet and he hasn't made any indication he doesn't want to stay.
2. Calgary has zero need for Girard, he would literally be forcing us to bench a very good defenseman.
3. The value gap between Girard and Lindholm is massive. Lindholm is an 8-9M caliber center making 4.85M, whereas Girard is a 4-5M caliber defenseman making 5M, It's like comparing Rantanen and Mangiapane

There was some conversation around Lindholm wanting to look around / explore his options. I think that was his classy way of getting away from Sutter.

I believe that's what people are still going on.

Probably a LOT different with Sutter gone and a class act like Conroy now in charge of the Flames.

I see more players looking at the Flames now and being a LOT more open to playing there with Conroy at the helm.

People who didn't actually watch his exit interview and only read the one quote by Eric Francis, which ignores half of what he said, think he wants out. In reality if followed that quote up with "It's not July 1st yet, we haven't talked, and the season just ended."
