Canes pass. He's a very Canes type of player being a good buy-low candidate, but this is WAY too much. Maybe a 7th in 3 years

If that's how you feel
Foegele 4 Jarvis
Since Seth is 4" shorter it doesn't count right?

That "actually" and "isn't" is nothing more than your opinion. While the actual numbers when put in Per 60 @ 5v5 for a level playing field say
Foegele vs Jarvis

Other than Jarvis being a 40 point 21-year-old and Foegele being a 27 year old that's only hit 30 in his career once, Foegele struggling to stay in the lineup, and oh, playing with McDavid and Draisaitl, it's pretty factual

Making stuff up and lying to support your opinion now too?
Foegele played in the bottom 6 mostly, but got 38% of his TOI with McDavid and/or Draisaitl while Kane was injured last season.
Again, for proper comparison of players Per/60 at 5v5 stats should be used. Points totals and PPG should not be used unless the players being compared play the same position for the same amount of time with equal special teams opportunity.

Jarvis is 4 inches shorter so... But let's do it your way. No power play points though for fairness cause Foegele doesn't play on it

Jarvis had 39 points in 82 games, -5 points that he got on the power play, so 34 / 82 = 0.41 ppg

Foegele had 28 points in 67 games, -0 points that he got on the power play (because he doesn't PP), so 28 / 67 = 0.42 ppg, adjusted for same GP 0.42 x 82 = 34.44

Huh, Foegele would have the same points with less ice time

I love Foegele but you are using stats too much (and I'm huge fan of analytics). For example, Naturalstattrick does not take into account against what competition are they playing (and Jarvis was playing against way harder competition).

Yep, and Nashville won that trade clearly. No chance of getting 3rd round for YAms.

This may help you understand better.

If you compare players the way you said, and did it comparing Ryan Nugent-Hopkins to Sebastian Aho.
Nuge had 104 points and Aho had 67 last season, so someone could say Nuge is better, and Aho is overpaid.
If you use per 60 rate to adjust for games played and 5v5 because power play time pads stats you get: Nuge vs Aho you see that Aho is the better player and why he gets paid.

I've always thought trying to adjust for competition is unnecessary. When they are against better players, they're with better players too. Like playing with McDavid (a go to excuse) means facing tougher competition, how do you math that?

Here:
According to Puck IQ using Woodmoney, Foegele's GF% was 58.3 against elite competition, and Jarvis's was 55.6%.

I respond and comment in stats because people don't respect anyone's opinion but their own, and if you ask most of them how they came to form their opinion they can't explain themselves, but they're right and you're wrong.

Foegele is good at what he is good at. He can get the puck and carry it to the other end just can't score or set up a play. Paired with playmakers he has been good.
