Would love to get Mercer, but pretty sure the Devils aren't trading him.

Aside from the fact that we can't afford to acquire Jake DeBrusk from both a roster and a cap perspective, Kevin Fiala (72 pts), Adrian Kempe (67 pts) and Viktor Arvidsson (59 pts) all outscored him this season, and Gabe Vilardi and Alex Iafallo probably would have, too, if they had played a full season, so we're not a team that needs a top-6 wing.

Devils won't move Mercer and neither of Lohrei or Lysell will be ready for opening day from what I've read, they need a little more AHL seasoning. I like the logic of the moves though, try and leverage some of the current roster pieces in a trade to get some young players on ELCs that we can plug in for cheap, and then fill the holes with youth from providence. Moving Debrusk would be a mistake though.

In my humble opinion Swayman gets more, Freddy gets 1mil less for 2 years, Reilly should be bought out, Pens won’t take Grzelcyk (maybe CBJ?), the Devils won’t give up Mercer (I doubt Hall would go back to NJ) and DeBrusk shouldn’t be traded.

Whether you think LA needs Jake or not (which they probably don’t) DeBrusk’s point per game was .78 which would be third out of all players you listed. You can’t use some stats for some guys and not use them for others. Those guys wouldn’t have outscored him, and he would’ve outscored Arvidsson had the numbers held up.

As others have said, Mercer is a nonstarter and Hall does nothing for NJ, especially on a deal thats about to end
