So Columbus takes Murray's contract off the books for Toronto to move up 7 picks ??? REALLY?!!

It was 13 picks for Mrazek who was worse and his contract was backloaded and 2yrs.

Also Ottawa still is retaining 25% of his contract and if CBJ wants they can buy him out and only have 700k penalty this year and 2 million the next

Don't see how that's really an issue, they're literally have the 3rd pick in the first round either way

either way you could do this trade with any rebuilding team with cap space, Columbus was just the first team that came to mind.

Even with the retention it opens almost 4.7 million. To move 7 spots for a guy you can't count on. The most important ability is often availability.

CBJ can afford his buyout. 700k this year and 2 million the next for moving down 7 spots. It’s not like Marleau who’s whole contract was signing bonus

Jackets aren't doing favours for damn near free. Maybe you get a 4th in return if jarmo is feeling generous that day.

Dude is not going to sign for nothing then be expected to play top pairing minutes , let alone the fact he's not a top2 player! Or even a top4 for that matter... Lol

It's the Jan Rutta - Victor Hedman type thing but Rutta is better than Schenn much better skater
