Not sure I understand the Saros trade from either side. Don’t think that’s something Nashville would want and seems like a lot to give up for Buffalo consider Levi seems ready to go

Bring in Demelo sure, but not at the expense of Joker. Is Demelo really that much better? I don't think so.

Demelo 20TK 46GV
Joker 20TK 32GV

5v5 CFrel%
Demelo -.04
Joker -.06

Demelo has 1 year left on his contract then is a UFA.
Joker has 1 year left on his contract and is still an RFA.

Seems like a case of the grass is greener?

Bring on Demelo sure, but keep Joker too. Just seems like a lot to give up that PHI pick for what basically amounts to a swap with no future certainty.

From Buffalos end, i guess it depends if you think a 21/22 year old with 7 professional games (NHL and AHL) to his name is ready to be starter. Saros started backing up at age 22 (if Im mathing correctly) but he already had 53 AHL games under his belt. I know levi has great NCAA stats but there has to be a learning curve between NCAA and NHL.

From Nashville’s perspective, Saros is their best trade chip so theyre going to try and leverage him for something they really lack (a top line center).

The Sabres package here comes with ostlund (16oa) and the 13oa in a good draft. That's 2 shots at a 1c. I would be more than happy to swap out one of those pieces for mittelstadt, and you would probably find lots of Sabres fans who would object. The market is the market, I don't think two years of saros will get you better than that, unless you want to look at a guy who is on the downside of their career, which doesn't make sense if you are rebuilding.

Maybe the historical precedents that the majority of media and fans keep pointing to will prove relevant once again but, judging from everything Adams has said and done to date, he firmly believes that Levi is that unique athlete - and mature enough person - to be capable of starting next season despite the quick jump to the NHL. I doubt he sees any real urgency to finding another goalie as a "1B" as much as he's just researching who may be available at reasonable cap hit to cover for injuries and to serve in a mentor role like Craig Anderson did last year.

I see Rosen in this trade. Id be fine wirh ostlund personally.

He may very well be unique. Its also a heap ton of pressure on a young athlete with little to no AHL/NHL experience. Theres also work loads to consider. NCAA season isnt as vigorous as the NHL. I just hope they dont plan on plopping him as starter with unrealistic expectations. If he gets into a rut, it could destroy some of his confidence. He needs a partner that can atleast pull 35 games and perhaps more should it be necessary. An even split would be ideal (personal opinion)

Yikes, I must be seeing things (unless the op got changed). Ostlund is the 16oa from last year, drafted as a center. Rosen was 14oa from the year before, he's a winger coming off a very nice ahl season. If you wanted a center, I would think ostlund would work.
As far as the Sabres gm goes, he has done almost nothing to address the goalie position (besides asking the panthers to include a 6' 7th round pick with the first that became kulich, in the Reinhart trade). I was surprised to hear the Sabres linked to hellebuyck, it's out of character for adams in his time as gm. He has fawned over Levi since he signed, I see where other Sabres fans are coming from in saying that adams isn't going to pay a huge premium to trade for and then possibly sign to an ill advised extension. All I'm saying is, I'm actually fine getting a lesser vet goalie to split time with Levi, provided the Sabres add a couple pieces to significantly help the d in front of the goalie. I would totally kick the tires and see about the better goalies, just because I expect the goalies to split the games close to 50/50. It's worth the ask.

I think someone like saros would be ideal for buffalos situation. Its similar to how we brought saros in while pekka was around. Levi gets 20-30 starts this season then if shown capable 40ish next season and trade saros at deadline to recoupe some of the cost. Yeh you wont get what you spent but you know you will have some quality goaltending and you dont put a huge amount of pressure on Levi. Plus if Levi struggles at all you can always extend saros to buy more time for levi. Helle is another option but he doesnt give you as much playtime to figure out if levi is ready or not.

Not alot in the ufa category that are starters and better than UPL and wont be wanting a fat contract. Maybe raanta, talbot, or andersen could be an option.

I would be fins switching Ostlund and Rosen, I just figured Rosen had more value because he is closer to the NHL and had a good season in the AHL, especially on the playoff run.
