If the Flyers add a third would that move the 2024 1st to a 2023 1st.

Zero chance Bo gives the Avs this kind of discount. Its a mega deal or one year deal, no in-between. Bo gets Arb rights next summer.

i wouldn't but I'm not the GM. Avs have to bet on themselves that this will be their worst finish in the years to come and it's a good draft class.

Around 4x4 has been the consensus. Takes him up to his UFA so he can cash in then.

CF concensus, I assume. Connected reporters indicate Bo is looking for big money and the responsibility that comes with it. The only two ways he gets that are what I outlined. Remember that he gets arbitration rights next summer...

I have seen Sergachev or Dobson reported as comparables that reporters expect. The only other major reporting was Friede reporting that the Avs may have tried and failed to get an extension but we don't know the $ amount of that.

I love Bo, but I'm not sure how he can ask for more than Sergachev unless he does term. If he had played a full 82, then we could chat about a bigger deal, but that hasn't happened. I'm not gonna argue between like a 4x4 or a 3x4.75 or anything in that range. If he's asking for $6.5+, unless it's a 7-year, those leaf ACGM trades for Nylander are going to be more interesting.

local guys are ALWAYS more in-the-know than national ones that get fed info by the league. I've met my source at my neighborhood grocery store and built trust with them. I can say for certain that Bo wants to be The Man, and The Man doesn't play on the second pair nor take team friendly deals.

I was on Mile High Hockey with all the DNVR guys a decade ago. I've hung out with them at the local arcade and Brooklyn's. They are passionate people but not the End-All-Be-All.

I'm just gonna go out on a limb is say neither is the guy from your grocery unless his last name is Mcfarland. If Bo signs a 1year so he gets arbitration rights asap, it's going to be a low $.

Josh Blue shops at my grocery store and he won Last Comic Standing, so be careful what you wish for

The Avs are not going to walk him right up to UFA - that's terrible asset management

I have no doubt Bo wants to be that top-pair guy playing next to Cale; dude is competitive and knows his value which is why I believe they need to trade Toews. It just does not make sense for them to keep both and they probably can't keep both. I guess they can pay Bo and let Toews walk but it seems silly to not get something they need back by trading Toews but I can see them being stubborn and just letting him walk.

It's not my pref either - again, just reiterating what I've seen in both the beat and ACGMs, but they're going to have a battle of AAV I'm afraid if they do a 2 or 3 year - I would guess that Byrum has more financial leverage for a 2 or 3 year deal that gives the Avs another shot at an extension under RFA, albeit with arb rights. That is where I think the negotiations have been sticky I would guess, not in a much larger $ amount.

Or I'm wrong! Happy to be as long as Bo is an Av at the end of the day. I'm just reiterating what the comps have been. I think a Dobson comp is fair and you can give a bit in terms of $ or term either way to make everyone happy.

Sakic implemented a culture of trust amongst player agents, where the Avs commit to doing right by the player. They let Naz walk, Grub walk, & Bura walk. Guys know they can sign in COL and not hurt their career/family no matter how it turns out.

It's really not. Player agents watch for this stuff. Some guys want to know the team is gonna take care of them and their family like close friends rather than numbers on a spreadsheet Kyle Dubas.

I see the Bo contract back and forth, but does ANYONE really think Hayes is the answer at 2C? He is a bigger JT Compher who has played one full season in the last 5. Stylistically, he seems like an awful fit, and at even $4M he should be at 3C, which the Avs cannot afford for that slot.
