Yep.. bc that trade was the point of this ACGM. Seider and Raymond will have to be paid after this year, so was searching for an expiring RD.

That WPG trade is so bad.

Edit: SJ trade is just as bad.

Disagree. They’re not that far off. Winnipeg deal replace the Islanders 1st with Detroit pick 9 and add a 2nd. Sharks deal replace the picks with Islanders pick 17.

Canucks take that and run. Getting value back for Myers without having to retain is a major W.

Sharks easily reject. Very little value coming back. Taking on the full contracts of Schmidt and Wheeler while retaining on BY FAR the best player in the deal.

Adding 17OA is a good start, but doesn't change the fact that Wheeler and Schmidt don't fit the Sharks long term plans and it would be a bad idea to give up any kind of value for them. Also seriously doubt either one of them gets traded to SJ with their NTCs. They won't be waiving to the Sharks. *Maybe* we can take Wheeler on in the hopes of flipping him at the deadline, but that's banking on him waiving his NTC for a second time in a year and it would certainly require our last retention slot.

As for Viro, we just don't need LD prospects. I won't pretend to know much about him, but from what I see he's not that exciting and probably wouldn't be of interest to SJ with all their LD organizational depth.

I can see where Detroit might want to trade for EK65 if they think adding a veteran star will help them with a playoff push, but the sharks will expect solid picks and prospects, and any older vets included would be as cap dumps.

Realistically the Canucks would get this at the deadline, so not that farfetched at all.

Sharks trade is awful, nothing of value and more cap coming back and retention
