If the goal is to add physicality and scoring depth, then why trade Knies?

Toronto also doesn't need a goalie with having Samsonov and Woll.

Not sure if you just didn't want to concern yourself with term but most and perhaps all of those players don't sign one year deals.

I agree, no reason to acquire Hart at such a huge cost in players and picks. Samsonov and Woll can do the job.
Also, losing Knies on the top line and replacing him with Jarnkrok makes the line less tough.
Defence is also too weak. Giordano will be 40 this year and likely a platoon 3rd pairing player. Liljegren is a 2nd pairing player at best. Barbashev will go, as stated above, for 4.5m or more.
You also don't have any spares. A team can go with only 20 players in the short term but not being able to carry a 7th D and 13th forward will have a negative impact over the long haul.

Any leafs fans that think O'Reilly is coming back, i hate to say he wants to be paid and the leafs cant afford to pay him without killing their depth.

They can probably afford him this year and have good depth still, the problem will be the following next two years if they retain Matthews and Nylander.

I feel like Nylander is gone this year.

Depends if they can find another upgrade for that 2C spot. I could see them giving him a 2-3 year deal below 5 AAV. If he does the job at 2C that's perfect, if not you can look for an upgrade closer to the deadline.

I think long-term is off the table for him with how last season went for him

Same 😔. Hopefully, Treliving doesn't botch the trade. Guessing it will be to revamp the Dcore.

Yeah and i was reading he wanted to trade Brodie from CAL when he was GM there, so i bet you see him moved also.

I think he wanted to trade him just to get Kadri, but who knows. Although, I do think he will move him for a few reasons

1) He's aging and on an expiring deal
2) Gives him 5M cap to make an addition without having to trade Nylander. So, his first move to change the D doesn't have to be a blockbuster trade.
3) Allows him to make a significant change to the dcore and start putting his stamp on the team by opening up one of the top 4 spots. Rielly isnt going anywhere and neither is McCabe. He probably tries to resign Schenn (since CGY was rumored to be interested in him) and so that leaves Brodie. Liljegren is also a possible trade candidate but like a Nylander-trade it's probably not something BT would like to rush into until needed.
