Probably not popular opinion but i agree with this offer from Rangers. The sport business is not an emotional thing . And colorado can sign 1 or 2 good UFA Meier and Barbashev. Trade Toews and Girard and sign 2 big shutdown third pair Dmen. It's not easy to see Rantanen gone but this team can win the stanley cup for long time.

Absolutely no reason to move now. If they can't agree on an extension, they'll probably trade him after next season. He'll get a Panarin/Pastrnak type deal.

I mean talking about that Rantanen deal theoretically, the 1st rd picks don’t really matter they are likely to be late, the other 3 scored 22 more points combined than Rantanen, none of them have proved to be a difference maker, you’d have to really really be sold that Laf was going to be a superstar to do that trade if you are COL. It would make COL a deeper team sure, but imo it also makes them less dangerous.

You can use both first round pick for add another player.
It would take courage to make this trade but I am convinced that the GM would manage to build an excellent top 9 on offense and rejuvenate the top 4 in defense (Miller -Toews) in addition to securing for at least 4 years this top 4 .

I’m not disagreeing but trading a 50 goal 100pt guy that is clutch usually isn’t a good idea
