you are aware that Gibson does NOT have high value correct? What's your honest issue with the trade

If Gibson doesn't have high value but is our starting goaltender for the next four seasons until someone better comes along in free agency or the draft, why in the world would we trade him for garbage? Ty Smith is the only element of any value in that offer, and he doesn't look better than Jackson LaCombe.

He's asked for a trade brother, I'm not pulling this out of thin air. We're talking about a guy who makes 6.4 million for long term who had a .899 SVP last season and 4 year average of .901. You can trade him and sign someone who can probably do just as good. A team acquiring him would hope they can fix him, but this is a 30 year old guy not a spring chicken.

Open to a change of scenery I believe is the ‘report’

We aren’t selling him low, a team acquiring him believes he will be their starter for the next 4+ years and we aren’t just going to give him away

@OldNYIfan I miss anything?

If he's not high value, then he's not worth trading. If he had actually asked or demanded a trade, it would have been headline news breaking it, not a comment buried in an off-season trade targets article on DFO.

So what is he did ask for a trade, we're also under no obligation to trade him, he's got 4 years left on the contract, he's not a pending UFA that we need to sign or trade ASAP like Toronto is with Nylander or Matthews.

If that's the best we will get, we would rather retain his services.

Forget Gibson. At his price you can almost sign a veteran tandem to go 1a and 1b without losing assets. I would think hard about the Joseph deal though. He's overpaid, but plays exactly like Sully expects from his wingers. I think he could find success here.

Gibson asking for a trade is moot. It doesn't matter in the slightest because he's under contract for four more seasons. If he really wants a trade his best course is to show up and play well no matter what.

Looking at the trade, Ty Smith is a nothing piece for the Ducks. He would join an absolute log jam of LHD in the ages between 20 and 24. Granlund is a two year 5M per cap dump coming off a terrible season. The picks are pushed out into 2024 and 2025.

Literally what about those pieces is supposed to entice the Ducks?
