Laf has shown nothing since his draft year. This is a big gamble from Van imo. Not worth it

It ain't worth trading 11OA for a slow winger the Canucks don't need

So basically the Canucks further destroy their prospect pool to acquire an underperformed who plays a position we don’t need?

11 and 23 might be worth 4OA in a normal draft, but this year 4 is worth a lot more. The players in the top 5 this year would be 1 or 2 in most recent drafts. Its a deep 1st round, but even still 11 and 23 aren't going to cut it. Admitedly I don't know much about Garand, but it doesn't look like he had a very good AHL season, at least not enough to stand out from the goalies already in our system.

Sharks need an elite talent from this draft, that means staying at 4OA.

I just can't see that 11oa pick becoming anything other than a center or a RD

It'll depend on how the Sharks view the players projected to be available at 11 and 23 (i.e. Oliver Moore, Zach Benson, David Edstrom, Bradly Nadeau) and whether or not a combo of the two is worth more than whoever they end up with at 4th. Same would go for MTL at 5. Regardless, NYR seems to do better with the later picks anyway (Miller, Lundkvist, Chytil, Othmann, Schneider, etc.) than earlier ones (Lafreniere, Kakko, Andersson, Kravtsov, etc)
