We need Parssinen, we need all the C options we can get. Otherwise I'd consider as NSH.

Yup. The fact that NSH doesn't want to part with him is also exactly why Ottawa would want him. Without digging into who says no for what reason, I think it's fair value considering the long term signing as part of the deal.

I would prefer to move Tomasino rather than Parssinen in a deal like this

I think this is a bit too much. Drop the 2nd and it's more fair.

I really like this trade though :

Tkachuk - Stutzle - Giroux
Greig - Norris - Batherson
Joseph - Pinto - Parssinen
Crookshank - Kastelic - Gauthier
Kelly

Chabot - Sanderson
Chychrun - JBD
Brannstrom - Zub

Forsberg
Lankinen

This is far, very far from Dorion worst trades, I'd say it's even among his best moves. You have no idea how bad he is at being a NHL GM. A good GM would have this team as a serious contender already, even if "the guys are young"

I think Ottawa would take any of Parssinen, Tomasino, Glass, Evangelista

Absolutely intriguing deal with Nashville. I think Nashville balks at giving up Parssinen, but it would probably be given a lot of consideration. Lankinen is an interesting option as a Goaltender. The content of the deal is equitable.

I don't see Sokolov ever cracking the NHL lineup, though. He just doesn't have the skating ability, and doesn't possess the awareness to make up for it.

He's not going to be a top 6 guy and he's never going to be fast, but his skating has been improving year after year. His 5 game stint in the NHL last year showed how he can contribute in the bottom 6 and provide some secondary scoring. Maybe he won't make it and/or maybe he won't be useful, but he's on the margins and he still has a chance.

I've watched Sokolov closely both in Belleville and his games in Ottawa. His skating has not improved very much. He was not impactful at all in his stint with Ottawa, and that is primarily due to his lack of sense in the defensive and neutral zones. In the offensive zone, at the AHL level, he has a nose for the net, and wants to be in tight and get those chances. At the NHL level, he was far too much of a perimeter player in the offensive zone, almost afraid to get in dirty.

I liked his short callup at the end of this last year. He just needs to relax and play the way he can. But maybe he'll never get to that point. The bottom of the lineup needs to improve but it's definitely up for debate and adjustment.
