Description
Thoughts? Just playing around with the cap space if nylander and Brodie were moved. I think still rather move Marner but always have a hard time finding a deal that makes sense.
A lot of cap space created but is it too risky spending this much in free agency?
The byram contract wasn’t sure on either but feels like with his potential and injury history a bridge deal makes most sense for both sides.

Cap reasons or value? Pretty confident Nylander would put up near 100 points on the Avs. But I get they have to resign him and Toews for this to make sense.

Byram is a controlled asset, Nylander has 1 year left on his deal and is expecting a nice bump in salary. I don't think the Avs can fit Nylander in their current structure unless they make bigger changes. Byram will be cheaper and is young and effective.

I understand the cap is tight but with Landy out this year it’s easy for them to fit Nylander, and if the cap goes up like it’s supposed to they can most likely fit an extension for him but it’s not going to be easy.
Toews for nylander cap wise long term makes more sense but I assume Avs want to keep Toews as he’s more important to a cup contender this coming season.

Byram is too valuable to give up for a pending UFA. Even if they get an extension done with Nylander, Byram has shown a lot for a 21 year old who is going to be on a cheap bridge deal, and then on a cheaper deal than Nylander is going to get long term after the bridge. The amount of control the Avs have on a 21 year old top 4 d with a lot of upside is just too valuable. I know it sounds weird if youre just looking at production but there is a lot more to value than that.

Avs are going to bridge Byram and fill out their roster with contracts that wont interfere with the possibility of bringing Landy back next year and until they know for sure if he can come back or not, then make decisions longer term to replace him.

Nah it does make sense! With the cap situation it’s a tough move for them to make.

The Avs wouldn’t trade Byram straight up for Nylander. 22yr old team controlled dman that has proven he can be a difference maker at the highest level is worth significantly more than a pending UFA wing, who is a pure rental. Byram is arguably the 4th most untouchable asset in the Avs. On top of that opposing fans thinking replacing Landeskog is priority just shows how little analysis they do. COL played all year and won the division without Landeskog, and what they really missed was a 2C, what they really missed in the playoffs was a 2C that could drive play, so why in the world would they trade a top pairing cost controlled dman for a winger bound to walk to not address there 2 biggest needs in the off season in re-signing Byram and getting a 2C? Then they are suppose to add a 1st? The Avs literally laugh and hang up.

If you want Byram, it's Matthews(50%) or move a long with this idea.

Edit:Avs still probably say no

I don't think Colorado would send a 1st in addition. Byram's a young RFA and Nylander could just walk to FA next summer if the Avs can't pay him what he wants. A Toews/Nylander trade makes more sense but I think the Avs are extending Toews this summer or mid season.
