In a weird situation. You either suck with bedard, or try to become half decent. PHL takes that and runs if you facilitate the 3rd party. Bruins accept probably, and Mantha is worth a 3rd now, a 3rd and a prospect at the trade deadline

It isn't that weird. They are rebuilding. Drafting Bedard doesn't change anything. They would rebuild at the same speed as if they were drafting Fantilli, Carlsson, Smith, Benson, or whoever. He isn't royalty. They don't have to do anything. The rest of our prospects deserve their shot too. We aren't going to just burry all our prospects in the depth chart because of Bedard.

Those trades are not the direction of a rebuilding team. Mantha was called out by Caps coaching staff for having bad work ethic. Caps will have to pay a lot to move him.

In general the Hawks should try to have a good 1st line and powerplay so that Bedard can actually play and grow, but have the rest of the team still suck. As a caps fan Mantha probably has negative value, but at the same time it doesn't make sense for them to give up more than something like one of their 25 2nds to move him out in a pure cap dump.
